ok thanks will no use it

Been on a few forums - general concensus is slick 50 has teflon in.Teflon hardens. When this hardened teflon breaks off, where does it go?

Nobody seems to know.

I dunno either but not taking the chance.

and I used to use it all the time

The teflon thing is true, it hardens with heat over time, the microscopic coating as it hardens will break and float around in your oil.Just use a very good esther type synthetic oil.

Yeah, don't do it. General consensus on here seems to be that additives are a bad idea. Also if you look at http://www.carbibles.com/engineoil_bible.html, this article explains a lot about oils, and also why additives may not be such a great idea (I think the additives bit is a link from this page). Anyway, it's worth a read.

Also search for threads on this forum by a guy called "Oilman" (real name: Simon). Like Retro620ti says, get a decent synthetic ester oil. Simon recommends (or at least used to recommend) Silkolene Pro-S 10w50 for the zed engine, but best to ask him direct since he knows what he's talking about and I don't. Opie Oils have got a link in the sponsored links section of the forum.

Still recommend 10w-50 for the modded and tracked cars. 5w-40 or 10w-40 would be better for the stock road cars.

I use millers 5/40 fully snt, all year round, specially in winter because of quicker circilation needed to protect at cold temps and engine sounds very smooth.

10w is fine for winter use, even in chilly Scotland.

I would still use the 10w-50 as the most suitable option.
