HUGE decision made tonight.....

Recommended Posts

Guys

As you know, I am intending to break the Zed down and sell for parts due to wanting a house further down the line etc etc, but tonight a friend of mine came out with what must be the most simple comment ever!!!!

He said to me 'Why dont you keep the Zed?'

I told him the reasons why etc etc, but then he went on to say...

'Well, why dont you just keep it as it is and stop the project, stop modding her and just use the car as it is, once fixed?'

So, I sat down, worked out some figures, and he's right, I can actually afford to keep the zed as just a weekend car and if I choose to stop modding it any further than present...... :hyper: :hyper: And pay off my debts......

Apologies for messing any folk around but the sheer simplicity of just not modding the zed anymore means that I can afford to keep it..... :D :D

Great news for me........and grrrrrreat simple advice....

Why I never thought of this I dont know but I have been so so focused on this picture of my Zed I have in my mind, I overlooked a simple answer.....

So no more project Zed, but as I am sure a few zedders will already agree, with the coolers, fixed head gasket and a damn good tune, she is TBH fookin fast anyway........

Looks like your all stuck with me for a while yet.....sorry.... :x:

Apologies again.... :nelson:

One of those things I spose Daz, ever goes through diff stages in their lives....

The best part is, I get the keep the car I have ploughed £000's into and I WILL finish her one day, but house first.... ;)

Nice one mate wish I could do the same with mine

Hello mate,

Have you actually sat down and worked it out how much it'll cost to just keep it and use it at weekends?

Insurance costs me less than my diesel  and tax and MOT dont cost that much.....

Its just fuel that canes my ass....and general wear and tear but if she's off the road for a month or two whilst I save for the parts, so be it....

Why do you need to sell? I know you want to go on hols more etc but just stop spending on the zed... ;)

made up for you mate, even though i see my z when i want i still miss her and wish i never sold :(

Thanks Greg....thats how I thought I would feel...

Even if 3 years down the line I bought another 'already done' zed, I'd always feel like I cheated and that it wasnt my hard work and effort that she had ploughed into her....

I took her (as poorly as she is) for a drive last night, just a few miles and all I can say is, GOD I miss that power....she still pulls even when she isnt right....

You will mate, you will....

The thing with disposable income is that you end up wasting it anyway...

IF you REALLY sit down and go through what she'll cost with just using it as a second car, without modding, being silly and using her as an everyday car, they are affordable......but your right, I have been fixated with the modding and I have been modding cars for 10 years now.....

I'll never forget my first ever mod, removing the tiger skin seats from my headrestless Ford Escort 1.3L and fitting MK3 XR3i items, along with the steering wheel and gearknob...

God she felt faster after that!!!

worked it out mate £600 a month without spending no more on modding

I need to get it tuned probs going to set me back £500

I need a few bits of the body work touching up as its annoying me another £500 i guess

the ball keeps rolling with these things I cant stop spending on it .

just going to cut my losses wipe my debt, then start again in a few years but buy something thats already done to save a few more pennys.
