F*ck, ar5e, c*nt, and any other swearword you can think of

Remind me not to vent my frustrations with life on the car (or forum members, sorry Stuart, Ajay).

Remember that new loom I was installing, and nearly finished?... ;

I think the chances of seeing me at a meet are.. pretty minimal.. in fact.. there is no chance..

The word Bugger springs to mind.

You have my sympathy after spending the last couple of weekends on my ECU harness looking for a broken wire.

Your problem on the other hand is a little easier to spot!

If get the right pin extraction tool you might be able to remove all the pins from the old and new harness connectors and swap the plastic plug over to the new harness without having to solder it all together.

Sorry mate.

I have broken my old ECU-connector in 2 pieces and

succeded later to glue it together with super-glue (cyan-acrylic, spelling?).

I could later connect it to a ECU without braking it.

Just do it slowly and press on it a bit, so that it goes straight in.

You can insert the dangling cables after gluing the connector together.

Identify them using the schematic in the manual.

I feel your pain m8. frown.gif

Az would a picture of another one help at all, if so i'll take a pic of mine & send it to ya'.

Just a guess!

harve.

Sorry Aaron, if I sounded a little short with you on the other posts I was not aiming anything at you.

My reaction was over the top, I just hate people slagging me off or saying things like that.

My original message was not aimed at you nor having ago at you, it was more of a light hearted comment.

I think stress is getting to some of us. Not just you A, me too Exams and stuff.

Back to your problem, if there is anything I can do to help. I am off most of tomorrow so if you need a picture of it, tell me.

Stuart

Chillin' biggrin.gif

Thanks harve, stuart - no pics needed though.. I have another (new) loom here, and the connector from the old one..

It's a bugger though, all the work I did fitting the new loom so far, and I have to undo it all.. and I still dunno how I'm going to get the ECU connector through the hole in the bulkhead.. I swear the metal plate (immediately behind the bulkhead) is supposed to be in a different place..

tight_640.jpg

See that small black area at the bottom of the hole? Thats all I have to get the connector through frown.gif

Connect some fishing wire to the loom and pass the fish wire through the hole and pull it up.

EAZY smile.gif

Well Eazier said then done.

Use some good quality strong fishing wire.

Sorry to hear the bad news mate frown.gif

Just when u think everythings going ok............... DOH!!!

Cheer up mate, cya on saturday dude!!

If you can get all the pins out the connector you broke you will be able to get the bundle of wires through the hole easy.

Just tape em all together into a pointy end, pass a coat hanger wire through the hole and tape the bundle to it. Pull it all back through the hole and then push the pins back into another good connector. If you have another loom to compare against this could be very quick.

You just need a pin extraction tool which you can get from electronics shops like Maplin, Farnell, RS etc

You might even be able to do it with a paperclip or strong needle.

Az,

Sorry mate, not good bud! Maybe now you can see where I was coming from when I told you about my problems servicing the Kirk.

Nothing is EVER easy when working with sodding cars.

You'll come through though mate, you are the Z genius IMHO and I admire you greatly for tackling all this work on your own.

Hope you get it sorted matey.

Tim
