finally decided to rebuild existing engine to 500+ bhp

to all of you with 500+ bhp many  . i have decided to stop faffing around and rebuild my engine, it'll take time and plenty of money but i will eventually do it. what are the steps i need to take inorder to acheive my goal?

This is the list i have comprised add or take away what you think.

forged pistons

forged con-rods

740cc injectors ( 800cc - 1000cc available) which?

t28 hybrid turbos (are these capable of delivering 500+)?

light under wheel pully -?

stage 3 clutch

twin intakes

BOVs

ported heads

full new breaking system (brembo perhaps)?

braded break hoses its all well going fast but i need to be able to stop as well

new fuel line

full new set of vacuum hoses

new grounding kit.

have i missed anything?

what order should i do the above in?

help is greatfully accepted

many thanx Rebel.

something like this ?

Block oil passages cleaned

Block redecked

Block water passage bored out for more water to back cylinders

Block Bored and Honed using a Torque Plate

Crank balanced and welded on center weight

Crank journals polished

Shot peened stock rods

ARP Rod Studs

New Rod and Main bearings(Ceramic Coated)

Ceramic Coated Weisco Pistons .040 over

Heads oil passages cleaned

Heads redecked

Ported exhaust and intake runners

5 angle valve job

Nismo 740cc injectors more than capable

New Valve stem seals

New Nissan Head gaskets

New Nissan Oil Pump

New Nissan Cam seals

New Timing Belt

New Nissan Timing Belt Tensioner

RPS Carbon carbon clutch ;)

Turbos options could be Greddy TD05H-16G's, JWT 700BB's or HKS GT2530's

and as 500 will max out the maf, yes the JWT type twin intake or upgrade the maf.

Cost wise between a healthy mid 400 and 500+ is quite large

Numerous options for the brakes

I wouldn't do it!! I would run a max of around 400-450bhp as after that, you opening up a bottomless pit and the extra BHP per £ just isn't worth it!!

Not looking to put a dampener on your goal but it's like riding a fireblade around town! Too much power to use safely and an RGV250 is just as quick, if not quicker......it's only when you hit the open road you really take advantage of the extra power.

only my 2p worth!! :x: but if your really set on going the 500bhp+ route, it's great fun if you have the patience and Smithy has offered some good advice above. :hyper:

Cheers Steve

Steve

500bhp is a nice figure to aim for, go for it!

Listen to smithy he knows what he is talking about.

Carbon carbon clutch may be OTT for your power requirements, i'm sure there are less expensive clutch that will hold the power you want.

good luck, it takes time and is bloody frustrating. mines been on and off over two years. but nearly getting there.

Speak to Mac, the way he's been talking, 500+bhp, and you'll be looking at strengthening your gearbox too!

My sugestion is

Sort the ride out 1st. Brakes, Suspention 1st before you touch the engine.

Seriously, whats the point in having all that power if it will neither stop not handle under the power.

got to agree with Steve E 500 bhp for the road is nice to have but way OTT in my opinion a useable 350 -400 is more than ample for normal road use

i have just had mine in to ZTech to uprate the clutch pulleys and flywheel , brakes allready done ..ready for next year and target 380 RWHP

whats the difference between 450 bhp and 500+bhp.................... dont say 50+bhp

is it really worth spending '000's for a further 50 bhp which in this country i will not use. in which case what will i require to produce 450bhp?

I have over 500bhp and it is very usable power,I will be going over 600bhp next year now that could be a differant story.

£500-£1500 ;)

If I was you I would get the heart of the engine done in one hit. so it only has to be pulled once. but there does not seem to many british cars to see what does what. so it is probably a calculated guess at best. try driving or going in a few before you make your choice of parts. remember a lot will be down to the mapping

Basically many of the internals will happily get you upto around 400bhp without much problem, however they would serously struggle at the higher end and certainly on 500bhp, so the cost to replace some of these parts with say Jun or Tomei for example can be very expensive, parts alone ain't cheap and then theres the labour. I would also expect to the average driver not a massive difference in the feel between the mid 400's and over 500's in power.

Unless you got serious amounts of money aim a little lower, have the car mapped by the likes of JD and i think you'll be very happy with what yer get :D

cheers
