Hi All,

I hope you can help.

My car has been off the road for a few months, this weekend I decided to get it sorted and back on the road.

I took it out for a blat last night and everything was fine, (still suprises me how quick a Zed is, ;)), but this morning it's decided that it only wants to run on 5!

I have plugged in the ConZult and discovered that it's No.5 that's at fault, I've swapped the coil pak, cleaned the connectors and swapped spark plugs but to no avail. :(

The monitoring page on the ConZult has the LH Lambda running at twice the voltage of the RHS.

I haven't carried out a compression test yet, as I haven't got much more time to 'play' this afternoon. When I swapped the plugs the old plug was dry, rather leading me to think it's a blocked injector. Does this make sense?

I haven't pulled the injectors before, is it straight forward as I can't find the procedure in the manual.

Any suggestions/advise welcome.

Thanks

Tim

PS Mac1 are you still fuming :mac1: with me or shall we burry the hatchet?

Okay, by process of elimination...

RLTC okay - as bypassed main unit

ECU Okay - as swapped with spare.

It's got to be wiring, hasn't it, if the Injector was returning the correct resistance? Can they fail and still return correct figures?

Really beginning to run out of ideas now. :(

the injector could fail & still give a good resistance check - all that confirms is the windings in the solenoid are ok.

if you have 12v at that injector, then you can check the wiring back to the ecu by putting your ohmeter at the injector connector & to the relevant pin on the ecu, should be

Did you already do the screwdriver test to make sure the injector really isn't working ?

since the CAS is also responsible for the injector firing order, might be worth to have a look at that one also.

Okay, so I've done th3 screwdriver check and the injector is clicking away, have also checked the CAS and tested that when turning that the injector triggers, and it does.

Have also checked power to the Coil pak and that's fine.

So, I can only assume that the injector is blocked and no fuel is getting through.

I've got an ultrasonic bath, so it's off with the plenum and injector cleaning time tomorrow. I haven't taken the plenum off before - any tips?

you're sure it also gets a spark on the suspected cylinder ?

The connector shows 12v when the ignition is on, and the coil pak has been swapped with No.1 to eliminate it, as has the plug itself.

is prob worth taking the plugs out, connecting put the plug to the coil pack & getting someone to crank it over while earthing the plug to make sure. although the coil has 12v it may not be triggered on the earth side

Is there an easy way to do this using a meter on the connector itself? The reason I ask is that I've just put it all back together, the light is fading, and I'm getting to the can of petrol and matches stage. :D

And, to add insult to injury I've got 2 more cars to fix when this one's working again, an Escort with a shagged rear wheel bearing and new clutch to fit and my Cerbera, who's engine Ive got to pull to replace a stripped alternator drive shaft. :'(

Tim :D

do it my way - you wont need the matches then!! :D

be preferable to actually see the spark at the plug TBH

As i seem to have same problems on No3 what was the outcome if any on this fault TT Tim had,

it was an injector

Cheers Paul, begining to think thats my prob, have good spark, resistance is 12ohms,and its clicking(maybe slighty less than rest)and 12v to inj from battery, wiithout coil or inj connectors no change in engine note,i have a S2 PTU wired in, can that affect inj if its playing up.Will do resistance from ECU loom today.
