Another question regarding reg-transfers

Filling in the V317. The check list at the front indicates that you need to declare the V5s for both vehicles, MOT test certificates for both, the transfer fee of £80 and then when returned, you need to go to your local officer to take the tax disks in.

But, inside it states that you need valid insurance documents. I asked DVLA over the phone and they said you didn't.

The donor vehicle is now insured by a friend, but the car is still in my name.

Any ideas what I need to do anyone?

Hey Si,

IIRC you will need the insurance certificate only if applying for a tax disc.

Otherwise best take the certificate for your own car just to be on the safe side. You know what government agency desk-jockies can be like on the "jobs-worth" front :headvswal

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I'm not applying for a tax disk though, just swapping the plates over and transfering the tax over.

Cheers Rich.
