Rap music has its qualities.....

It gives the black gangsters something to do other than shooting and muggin white people in the states

 Thats it Vini, tell it how it is!

yeh unfortunately your argument seems to be limited to judging me, just in the same way you judged hiphop before.

you clearly know nothing about hiphop, im not being prejudiced here, its evident from your post. im glad you used to listen to dr dre when i was in nappies. that would be what, 1984? what dre album were you listening to exactly back then? haha

the way of life i talk about is hiphop, not commercial rap/pop. hiphop is not just music, it is about respect, friends, the 5 elements (graf, djing, emceeing, breaking and beatboxing), respect and alot more.

do not get me wrong, i do not like commerical rap/pop and i especially dont like how they (and their record companies) portray their music as hiphop when it is not. it leads to stupid arguments like this.

to say modern hiphop is all the same, and to say it is the same as R&B is just a joke. what DECENT modern hiphop have you listened to? name 10 decent acts??

diversity is expanding the elements to their fullest, being the best beatboxer out there, taking djing to new levels etc.

i don't disagree with your milkshake and 50 cent comparisons, i don't like them anymore than you do. as i said before, i have diverse music range and appreciate all the artists you mentioned, such as madness, cypress hill etc.

personally, i can't name much classical, thats not my expertise nor my preferred genre. however i can quite happily chill to it and appreciate the musical genius it involves. why do you ask if i know my ska, dnb etc? you say its not a personal attack then make out i dont know anything about these genres!!! i am a punker at heart, i've listened to punk (and i mean real punk) for near on 7 years.

you also make out i don't know the happy mondays, or dire straits (whose name you spelt wrong, for the record), madness, nena etc...

Ok I'm glad you share my feelings on the mainstream stuff, and also on the more underground, real hiphop.

On some matters we will have to agree to disagree, but thats what life is all about. And diversity too, I'll agree with you on that one. Wanna gang up and see if we can make 50 cent's record a nice round 10 shootings...they say a cat has 9 lives, and although personally i wouldnt like to fight him i will still say he is a pussy ;)

Anywhoo, have a download of some madness, i'd suggest House of Fun, One step beyond and It must be love. Oh and wings of a dove too, you may like it, you may not but hey it''s all good. If you have any suggestions of music you think i should try, i will download anything and try it once, so as long as it's not mainstream R&B then i'll have a listen!

Dr Dre - The chronic...1994 i believe, have a download, absolutely amazing album, got snoop on it too!

Ben

thanks mate but i am fully aware of madness, with my punk listening came ska listening too. dre's first album was '87 with nwa if i remember correctly and chronic was released in '92.

quality album, at least we agree :)

hard to make recommendations but if you like well put together hiphop thats good for parties i'd recommend some J5 or saian supa crew (tho theyre french so you may not understand them).

killa kela (UK's premier beatboxer) also has a new album out in stores right now too...

Heyyyyyyyyy...I like rap!!!!

Heyyyyyyyyy...I like rap!!!!

and??????????

Oj I agree. I love some of the music. It just what they have made it stand for. It started as music from the ghetto all about the trouble stricken street life in the USA. NOW! its all about how big the rims on da pimp wagon are and how many birds they can shag in one night. How many other rappers they have killed and how many swear words they can use in one verse. Its not the music its the w4ankers that front it now-a-days that I dont like. IMO. of course. There is some better street music from this country at the moment from our black artists. White aswell but we are talking about "Black Music" after all. The best "Black Music" is without a doubt "Reggae" (IMO again).

im with vigilante on this one, i think with most music these days if you eat up whats fed to you from the mainstream then you wont even touch the surface,

commercial us rap is big business and what gets exported is mainly the bling bling gangster rap that is almost totally seperate to hiphop,

you know when you are listening to hiphop because as much effort is made of the djing and beats as the rapper, check anything by blackaliscous/solesides/quannum,

jurassic 5,

soul position who have brilliant rappers and dj/producers like dj shadow, cut chemist and rjd2 and then say hiphops all about guns

apart from the fact that they are using ryhme, thats about how true it is to the original values and elements, and most true hiphop heads dont rate them either but heck if your choices as an artist are to stay in the gutter with your true music, or make it big time in the states just for singing about guns and hoes, then what are you gonna do???? most rappers/singers would go for the big time - thats why crap tv shows have queues half way round the city for auditions cause everyone wants their 15minutes of fame, the main reason why theres so much of that rubbish is because people buy it

same reason theres a continuous supply of x-factor and manufactured boy/girl bands, its not cause thats the height of musical talent, its cause they have a product they know they can sell and most people will lap it up

but for every gangster rap record that comes out - theres somebody somewhere putting out original tunes, that you have to look around for, i mean if people didnt go looking for music then everyone would still think meatloaf was the epitome of rock (maybe a bad example)

and dont count out other countries for hiphop either we in the uk have some of the best talent out there, roots manuva, phi-life cipher, mark b, taskforce, skitz

darren

word up! uk's got some major talent going on at the moment. personal favourites foreign beggars are only gettin bigger and better!

Bit of an extreme accusation there mate....

.......Vini was just expressing an opinion and enjoying a bit of banter.

This forum is generally light hearted and should not always be taken too seriously. If you want to have a dig like that at a subscribed member then pay your sub and do it by PM.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Thanks Rich. You expressed my feelings entirely there mate.

AS for dumbnuts:

The reason no one else finds me offensive is because most of them know me. Something you now never will have the pleasure of doing. I am mostly a light hearted fun loving person that will throw a spanner in the works to keep the juices flowing. The fact that I aint an expert on black music is because I dont fookin like it. Dont mean I dont like black people. I have more respect for blacks than I do you. Its ugly people and idiots like yourself that I dont like. I know now that your reply has been deleted so no one will see what a dip5hit you really are. But never jump on me like that again mate. Not unless you are willing to pick it up in person? People are more than a 17" monitor attatched to your computer. The people on this site are generally like minded and good OK with the odd conflict but we dont need your kind of agression I certainly would not allow anyone to speak to me or any of my friends like that in the real world.

I am not going to fuel your fire anymore. just safe to say that should we ever get the chance to meet i might not be so generous. Being as I am such a bigot and what with you being gay? :xxx:
