Is there any easy way of getting the old battery clamp off? It is solid on there and the only way I see is using a hacksaw...it kind of looks like if I did that there would not be enough strap left to properly reach the terminal...

 

Also...do I need a cricket bat type soldering iron or do small ones heat up enough to put the terminal

back on???

 

Normally would get someone to do this but I fancy a go myself...

I just cut my old clamp off and crimped on the new gold one with pliers. Its a peice of p155 to fit mate. P.s it does raech the terminal properly I thought it would'nt as well. HTH

Same here, Just cut my old clamp off, then crimped the new one on. I did solder it with a wee soldering iron (took ages) but worth it.

 

Persevere, it does look like it will not fit, but it does. Hope it goes welll.
