i bought a set of new ebc front discs and pads in march ,and after some good advice on here decided to do the job myself . BAD IDEA. In the last couple of weeks I notice vibration/shaking when I brake at high speeds.

I know warping is common if the bolts are not tightened properly, so i'm guessing this is the case :(

Funny thing is If I brake very hard it goes away, it's only when i first touch the pedal, but still very scary to brake at 100+ and feel the steering wheel wobble. All my wheels, tyres and tracking are in order so I can rule that out. Is it too late, are the discs fooked?? :(

It may be way too late to try this, but remove the discs, clean the backs, clean the hubs and then ensuring that there is no dirt whatsoever left behind, then put everything back together and torque up the the bolts, evenly in the correct pattern.

If this doesn't work, then you may be able to get the discs skimmed.

Well all may not be lost then. Thanks Andy.

check the calliper pistons are working properly could be you have a sticky piston which is pushing the brake pad unevenly on to the disc, free up seized/sticky piston/s see if that helps

Very common with EBC disks Mick :(

 In one way that doesn't make me feel too bad ,and that i'm not a complete idiot when it comes to mechanics.

Very common with EBC disks

A somehwhat sweeping statement that

EBC are one of the largest manufactures of brake discs and pad sets with manufacturing plants in both the UK and the US.

Out of interest what is the basis of your conclusions?

Numbers?

Actual fact or hear say?

DIY fitted or proffessional fitted?

Did you bed them in gradually? Or stamp on them just the same after installation?

Did this once after I fitted brakes to my old Rover, warped in a couple of hundered miles. Gentle next time and noooo probs.

The best source their is

Customer feedback

Their pads are fine, with their new compounds but i believe they are still having problems with their disks, I've been told it is only on the heavier car applications.

Size of the company doesn't make them good on all apps, Ive had many a customer say how the disks have warped after only a few days, it's quite possible they have not bedded them in correctly, but the facts still remain that they have a poor reputation on big heavy powered cars.

BTW I've corrected your spelling mistakes :)

i'll second that...mine felt v scary until i had the calipers refurbed by Zen...there is a kit for doing it...ask Topless

got ebc brakes on mine aswell and have noticed similar to this but at low speed ie just as you come to a standstill
