Posted October 20, 200519 yr Sorry, posted this: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=58586 in the wrong forum. Gearstick's loose. Any advice much appreciated. Found a good article at http://www.ttzd.com/tech/bushingstech.html which seems to cover most of it, but was wondering where the best place was to get the bits from. Also, is it worth fitting a short-shifter for anything other than cosmetic reasons? Cheers, Bart
October 20, 200519 yr Pair of Nissan bushes (from MJP Eastern Auto-see traders section) will do the job. I got an Ebay short shifter and I like it. Greg fitted one but took it out again cos he didnt like it.( But there again he is a little weedy bloke!!!)  :x: Point to remember is "shorter throw=more effort. Basic physics really. You are more than welcome to try mine(with the car STATIONARY!!) :D
October 21, 200519 yr Author Hi Pete, thanks for the advice. I'll get in touch with MJP about the bushes, although at the moment I'm still in two minds about the short-shifter. The only one I knew of up until yesterday was the Stillen short-shifter, but £150 seems a lot to spend on something I'm not that bothered about. However, if you can pick up decent ones from eBay (not sure of brand, but saw in another thread) for about £40 that might make it worthwhile. The one thing I am going to take the opportunity to do at this point is get a new gear-knob because the one that's on there at the moment, which isn't the stock one, is just nasty. Thanks again for the advice, and for the offer of a look at your stick. I might take you up on that next time I'm in Nottingham - one of my mates is in a band up there, and they're starting to get a few gigs, so I'm going up to see him on 19th November. Cheers, Bart
