I got caught by a roadside mobile camera 2 weeks ago doing 60mph in a 30 zone. I had the letter today to reply and tell them who was driving :(

The letter says i could get 3-6points and up to £1000 fine or a ban at the courts discretion.

Has anyone on here been caught doing the same kinda speed difference and what kinda fine and points did ya get?????

Any help would be appreciated. I want to go back and do my paramedic training but cant have more than 3 points :headvswal

There was a thread posted about how to avoid a fine. I think it was AndyP

If you make up a sob storey about you had to get to so and so's, because so and so is ill, with no one to look after them, you could get sent to there "Speed awareness course" in Shirehampton, they charge you £60 for the privilage, but you dont get the points.

Personally I do not speed in my zed...

I drive at 30 everywhere, even on the motorway... :hurl:

hahaha,....your all heart...but 60 in a 30 is a tad on the high side...

At 30 mph over the limit they like to start throwing bans around, best go see a lawyer and read up on the net for the best ways to get out of it.

you harsh man! ;)

Sorry ive got no sympathy at all for people who drive at twice the speed limit ESPECIALLY in a residential area (30mph) and get caught.

You know what you’re doing, and you know you shouldn’t be doing it. Bit your lip and take whatever punishment you’re given.

IMHO

60 in a 30. tough sh1t love. :nono:

Bit harsh............twice the legal speed....i can see a jail sentence....

Bit over the speed on that, just take it like a man.

Naughty girl, Sorry to hear Anna.

FYI - I've spoken to Anna, and it was'nt strictlly thru a built up residential area, it was from a 60mph national speed limit, into the start of her village where it changes to 30mph and is still quite an open road before you reach any houses. Still naughty ofcourse.

The issue is not 60 in a 30...the issue is that it is twice the speed limit. That is how they make the distinction...same as doing 140 in a 70...not that I could possibly have ever done that you know...

It used to be an instant ban for doubling the speed limit, I dont know if its still the same

I understood that it was an instant ban for doing 30 over the imposed limit (eg: 100 on the motorway is usually a ban)

could be right there steve but with this countrys traffic laws who knows they get changed and only the police know about the changes

That the way I read it, 30 over the limit automatic ban unless you have a good solicitor like all the famous people that come up with a crappy excuse with someone that knows how to word it in court.

That speed camera in your OWN village Anna???

Have you had a squeeky clean licence though? Any previous offenses etc?

been banned twice for this 65 in a 30 and 72 in a 30..........its not automatic though if you have a clean record and have a good plea in mitigation then you may get lucky

it was a mobile camera van, parked behind speed camera, pointing at her before you get to speed camera

I thought these were called speed safety vans!!!! if theres a camera already there then its more like a revenue collection van

*******s!!! That kinda takes the piss a bit really although she was still doing twice the limit.

I got caught doing 96 in a 70 on the A19 nr Stockton in Aug 2004, got 5 points and £160 fine. Its been the one and only speeding offence so maybe that helped.

Trouble is there is a lot of revenue in hitting motorists. BUT I got wot I deserved cos I WAS speeding.....or was it coz I didnt buy a road angel ;)

Oh yes, driving the wifes Volvo last month I would have been caught by one of these vans if it wasnt for my road angel. Its just too easy to get caught even when driving normally now, the speed can just creep up.
