Is it a lot of work/money to remove the stone chip around the lower sills and bumpers? I hate it! everytime i polish the car the smooth panels look mint but the bottom of the car looks a bloody mess cause the polish gets trapped in the stone chip.

Not sure how costly removal of the textured stuff is.

But I have a useful tip for polishing it - instead of buffing with a cloth use a clean dry sponge instead, failing that, wrap the buffing cloth round a sponge. It gets into all the dips and bumps with much less effort.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I just touch up the textured lower bumper sills with can of Spray paint (of matching colour). Becuase the finish is textured it does'nt require the skills of a bodyshop specialist. It looks spot on, and you'd never know.

Depends on colour of car though, I guess. Lighter colours may show.

I use auto glym, thought that was good stuff.

...will give the DIY spraying a go but i've not been able to find the colour in the likes of Hafrauds. Mines blue. Anyone know where i can get a can?

Halfords wont have it on the shelf, but they offer a paint mixing service if you give them your paint code (from vin plate) at the service counter, or go to any Paint supplier with the code.

yep, halfords will mix any colour as long as you provide the paint code. £7.99 for a tub of touch up paint, or £8.99 for spray can form.

Try your local Yellow Pages for trade automotive paint supplies.

Take the car there

"need aerosol for that)

They will do the rest - look at paint code, mix it, there and then usually.

Normally cheaper than Halfords.

...and being paint suppliers, better chance of colour match...and they get talking so give you tipsand tricks of the trade...like-get the polish off first, or the paint will not stick. :)
