why is it that my newly installed sub sounds way better 6 foot in front of the car when its installed in the boot. If you stand at the back of the car all that can be heard is a nasty rattling. When inside the car it sounds ok 'ish but when i lean forward towards the windscreen it sound much better.

What can i do apart from mount the sub on a trailer behind the car????

Featured Replies

:( mine does it mate, iff i open the window and "port" the inside it stops

Is it bolted to the floor?

Gotta stop the box reaction, to the action of the sub itself

FECK! i'd spent hours custom fitting it in the boot and now it looks like its in the wrong place. That article makes sense but how can you mount a 12" sub in a box facing backwards in a space thats less than 12" high? and expect to get the targa tops in. Mines mounted to the left and facing up. I suppose i could try a pair of 8" subs.

Thanks for the tips lads.

What I would say m8 , what u'd pay for a good set of 8's, ur better off going for a really good single 10 incher!! The zed's boot wasnt really designed with ICE in mind, being very shallow and that. I love me bass, waz part of the saxo brigade after all!!!

Yea, 10" is always better but where the hell can i stick it (don't say my miss's !)

The sound god has arrived...

You need some brown bread.... and alot of it.

If you can insulate the car fully than the nasty rattling sounds will dissapear and the sound will be built up and sound great. You will have a tiny bit of rattle only as the boot is a prone flimsey area.

but lace the doors boot floor and boot area and also anywhere else you can find with brown bread.. or what ever insulating bits you find... this will help alot.... and if a T top than you will be laughing all the way to your destination.

After ur advice ive stuffed my car with Hovis - and its no different !!

I cleaned out the Spar of Hovis last night and stuffed every nook and cranny i could find in the boot but the only difference it made was making me feel ravenous, so i stuffed myself too and hey presto!
