Is there such a thing as a single Din pocket for the centre consol of the 300ZX.

Ive got a single din head unit which fits ok in the slanty top or bottom but that leaves me with an empty slot which I would like to fill with a pocket any Nissan options ??

ALSO .... Cmon You head bangers ...wheres the best place to fit a subwoofer in a SWB ??

Mine's gonna be going centrally in the boot, careful placement means I'll still be able to get me Targas in as well. I'll post a pic up tomorrow.

yep, i got mine from a car audio shop. they had a fitment list. think it was a standard nissan one. bout £12 i think.

Hey Gaz

Whats with the 20 inch Beemer wheel ?

Is there a car attached ??

Nice bass machine....booom booom

Most of you Zedders seem to favour the far rear quarters for big bass.

What about behind the front seats I have SWB remember..The clearance is only about 30mm between the metal plate and the cover, but I could increase that by 4 inches without any great sacrifice.

Or theres the centre tray behind the two front seats

It would leave my boot space clear

What do you guys think ????

lol its 19" attached to a x5 (not mine unfortunatly)

Hi Apache

Your idea has the advantage that the two Targas are separated by the centre speaker. Its always been the clashing together of Targas that trashes them.

Seems a bit wasteful of space to put it dead centre though ??

there is only 2" under the centre cover i have a swb too and looked into all the possibilities in the car ,even constructing boxes to go either side of the centre tray.

most people mount there amps in the centre tray location.

there is enough room behind the passanger seat looking behind the black cover to build a custom box for an 8" sub imho but there isnt that much room behind the driver.

good luck in your ideas bud keep me posted on what you decide

I'll take a pic tomorrrow with the targas in the boot :D

Helpful info Thanks Gaz

Im not going for a full out Amp display and Ill probably go for a single cone, as stereo works better at higher frequencies. So ATM the favoured spot is behind the passenger seat which I now know has approx 8" clearance

Cheers Bud

centre cover constructed with slimline amp

you will probably have to do a bit of fancy fibreglass work but take the passanger strut cover off and you will see it can be done. i just couldnt be bothered + i have never used fibreglass before lol

Here are some pix mate.

First one shows Targa 1 in place

Second one shows Targa 2 in place

Third one shows them from inside with the tailgate down

I use an old towel and some foam bewtween the panels to help protect them.

I also use the straps to secure them down.

As for wasting space - it doesn't really bother me as

a) the sub can easily be removed if necessary and

b) in my case the Zed is only for pleasure use and as such rarely has much in the boot

Apache thanks for your input

Halfords also sell a tray insert for a DIN radio slot....... Not sure how much it is though.

£15 and its crap - Had one in my RX-7... The problem is that the plastic is cheap and brittle so all the clips etc snap really easily! Also, the inside has these annoying ridges so you can't really put much in it! :headvswal

Looks ok though...
