What sort of extra bhp are people thinking if you decat a TT? On my old 200 people said anywhere between 10 an 30bhp... i had it done and it definatly made the car pull stronger so thinking of getting it done for the 300....

Featured Replies

probably only about 10bhp, depending on the state of tune, but its more the quicker spool and throttle response I noticed.

You cant really put a figure on it bud, as having different mods all adds up and no 2 cars give the same results :( so the best bet is to get it dyno'd before and after ;) thats the only way you are going to find out the result of de-catting

10-30bhp sounds feesable, think of the cat as a restrictor so remove and more gasses get out resulting in more room for the in-coming fuel charged air :) with the benefit on a turbo of a faster spool up due to the increase of moving gasses. but i still have turn-ups on my jeans so what do i know

cheers guys, sgt c your not far from me at the moment (im over in tamworth) , you know any decent dynos round here? Dont suppose your any good at freeing up calipers and fancy helping me out for a few beers?

Im also looking at getting some type of boost controller... so be interested in knowing what my car has to offer with some extra boost and no cat..

If you are over Tamworth give Jeff a bell 01827 259222 he should beable to help with the calipers ;)

As for Dyno's no mate not round here but am looking at wrc at silverstone soon as are a few others

Boost controller, give Chris at Greddy a bell in the traders think they doing a group buy at the mo

if you are going to De-cat and put a boost controller on i would also put a good induction kit on if you haven't already ;) Apexi from Danny at DTA in the traders section

thanks yer ive already got an apexi induction on, so should be pushing some decent power after these few top up mods.... Ive spoken to jeff about my calipers but business is good for them as usual so im waiting a few weeks.... :headvswal (got some other work booked in with them aswell...) so was hoping to jump the queue and solve the brakes ... but thanks for the advice... should be running a decent zed when these things sorted

if you are going to decat, beware the dreaded blue smoke when your tubbi's oil seal gives way ( which it / they probably will do )

 Well said that man, they will only go if not looked after, like most things.

Good servicing all ways goes down a treat ;)

WRT decatting blue smoke, if you decat, and get blue smoke, will it stop if you put the cats back on?

or is it once the go, thats it?

If the Turbo seals go they go mate no putting cats back on to make right again.....New Tub seals needed :(

Got to admit that a decat and a boost controller, makes it like having a new car.

Best 2 mods i ever did.

I guess the closest dyno place may be THOR in Warwickshire unless there are ones closer that I dont know about. Ive used them before and they know their stuff.

does no-one know?

some people replace both (swapping stock downpipes with fancy divorced downpipes although the effectiveness of these is up for debate - toughie job too as you need to get to the tubbies). removing just the cats is a simple job and gives you, ooh, 10 - 15 bhp. :smw:
