Looking at buying a new PC but with so many deals out there it's becoming a nightmare!

I like the top of the range Sony desktops but then you're talking 1700 squids. But then saying that some of the 500 squid deals banded about in the high street like at Currys and Comet etc. seem quite good to.

Then I've been looking on Dell's website and I know that they are well established as excellent value and good quality.

Can any of you PC guys chip in and try to help me make my mind up? Not really a big gamer although I might be soon seeing as my new house is gonna have broadband from Monday.

build it yourself, with good components, you end up with a system about the same price as off the shelf ones but with better branded internals.

i go mesh all the way. dell sucks, we use them at work. give us details on budget and what you're guna use it for. occasional gaming or lots of gaming?

overclockers.. yea right i used to have an account with them, most fukin unreliable bunch of morons i have ever dealt with, i placed orders with them for items they had in stock, only for them to take the cash then email me to let me know they wouldnt have the items in stock for a few weeks and that the website hadnt been updated, i lost several clients because of the fact you cant even get through on the phones to them, they have been promising to put a new pohone system in since last year!!!!!

believe me im not the only one to complain about them.. do a search on the net just to see how fkn bad they are..

heres the basic system piccy

yeah i had major problems with them when they mixed up orders, it actually took me hours to get through to sort out with them when their courier would pick it up, then they didn't send my bits out because they didn't have a record of their courier picking the bits up, they need a helpdesk not shitty phones that are always engaged,

they sell a good selection of bits though

really??? that does suprise me TBH! i have used them loads for years now. never had a bad thing to say about them, have always been very helpful IME.

yes i dont deny they have a good selection with cheap ass prices, but they consistantly let people down, and im sorry time is money and i dont have the time to spend hours trying to get through to them trying to get money back or change an order.

Cheers PK that does look good but what graphics card does that come with? Also I wouldn't need any of the surround speakers as I bought a brand new Logitech set recently so that covers that side of things. Do you do 19" TFT monitors?

its time wasted where you could be eatin!

im also doing a full range of cases etc,, this is the new enermax 64bit system im selling.

usb front rear, firewire, surround compatible.. list goes on..

i do 19" monitors for just 50 quid extra on top of that

gfx cards are optional, the gfx chip on the board is fine, but i can do gfx cards at trade for you, i usually start with at least a 256mb card and then go from there radeon, nvidia, sapphire, all the major brands are available, also different motherboards, drives, etc..

cheeky fooker... and to think i was gonna share my pie with you..

If it was me, I would build it myself but not everyone is into that. Dell are pants. Cheap crap..I use it at work and it sucks.

Thought about a desktop replacement laptop? You can get a damn good spec in a laptop that is just slightly too big to be really portable but still small enough to stick away when not in use!!!

ACER do some good ones...not oo expensive either...

yep i do the acer travelmate laptops with the widescreens and dvd-rw and wifi ready.. very good laptops..

Thats a good deal. I might have one myself. But as i have just bought a Sony vaio laptop I will have to wait. The only thing I would require is a larger H/D. and 1 gb ram. But a sound deal if you ask me.

Agree 100% with what has been said about Dell. As in any market, you get what you pay for. Cheap usually = crap quality components, cheap PSU, badly fitting case etc... pk1's price looks pretty good for the spec.

Acer Ferrari...now that's a quality piece of computer if ever I seen it. ;)

well the price on ram is very good at the moment so to upgrade it wont be much at all.

i only use quality components, i made sure of that being in the business i am.

i also have a swap out warranty on my systems if anything goes wrong you get new, no messing around, as long as the problem falls within the manufacturers terms i just swap components.

so if your kid puts their cola in the holes to see what it looks like filled up or 20p in the card slot then ur not covered!

also if i can get the price down on the 17" monitors then they system will be sub 500 quid
