Something on the interior trim of my Zed has been rattling like a b@st@rd recently and driving me absolutely insane and this weekend I finally fixed the little sucker - hurrah !

There were two problems, firstly the upper rear seat belt mountings have a metal plate through which the webbing runs, this was vibrating and causing one of the rattles. I removed the bolt and put a thin rubber o-ring in just to take up the slack. Secondly, in the boot, the cover for access to the rear lights had become loose over the years and so I used an inch or two of that 5mm thick sticky draught insulating stuff (that normally goes around window frames), once again to take up the slack. And the result - what a difference. There are still a few odd creaks between the bits of plastic trim but I can live with those.

I also got the light around the ignition switch to work when the head/sidelights are on. Well to be more accurate I discovered that it already worked but it needed to be absolutely pitch black and with a good imagination before it could be seen. There is a tiny bulb in there which I assume had blown, but infact it was just dim, (for some reason it only gets about 7.5v) and then it has a green rubber sleeve over it, which effectively filters out ALL the light. So I removed the sleeve and now I can see where the ignition lock is. Now all I have to do is work out how to fudge it come one on with the interior light and then how to make them fade out slowly like modern cars. Another day I think ...

Nice one mate.

Now I know what to do with my seatbelt mount when it comes back! Most annoying and could qualify for a new VW advert I reckon if you just change the badges over and put some hot chick in the passenger seat asleep!

Then get some old geezer with black teeth and an oil can to laugh insanely whilst greasing the seatbelt mount! LMAO biggrin.gif
