Not the z but my GSI Zafira  right outside my house

The fire brigade think it was an electrical fault but [i maybe wrong here] the car was parked up at 3.30 yesterday after the school run and it went up at 22.55 last night would/could this be possible!!.

Only had the car 6 months paid 16k for it and covered less than 2k in this time, what do you think they would pay out!!!!

I have no known enemies but cant get my head around the firebrigades comment.

I suppose i should be thankful for small mercies that it was not my z,but will think twice about leaving outside my garage from now on.

Off to get a few stellas to cool down

cheers people

depends where you got it from bud, it may be covered under the sellers warranty especially if it was an electrical fault, if it was new you should get a new one

Electrical problem should mean the insurance will pay out no probs so the firemans theory could work in your favour

sorry to hear about that, the insurance company may investigate it for you

peace of mind and all that

Oh dear, sorry to hear that mate. At least the firemans diagnosis will get the insurance to pay out. Hope you get sorted. Dave

dave get straight onto the garage and search for recall data you should be able to get a replacement if its an electrical fault!!

not quite the same but my brother brought a vectra sri second hand.

within 3 weeks the timing chain went and took out the whole engine!! i found out on the web that vauxhall had a recall on the cars as an oilway clogged up causing the chain not to be lubricated... the car was past its warrenty but because the car had full vauxhall service history and with the info i found he had vauxhall pay for 80% of the repairs, which was a new engine.

always worth a look could be a known problem

Thanks guys police have also told me they think it is an electrical fault rather than malicous still got my doubts [lots of probs around are area at the moment and police want to kick it under the carpet] but have tried to find on the net about this problem with no avial apart from 1 that the filler cap for the oil was wrongly replaced and oil spryed onto the inlets and up it went.

Good news is just sourced an 05 plate [mine was 54] for 1k less than mine was 6 months ago so might get a few quid back [to spend on z] if things work out.

cheers

Dave

Hope it all sorts itself out for you Dave, what a bloody pain in the a*se!

Thank god the Zed is OK...

the zafiras have got an electrical problem on them its with the ignition switch which sticks meaning its trying to crank all the time but doesnt go as far as to actually engage the starter thus burning out switch and starter and the blue wire in the multi plug on the n/s/f suspension turret location. hth

That is worrying because the z is in my integral garage UNDERNEATH my 6 year olds bedroom and when the colder weather apperars my z will be going into my fathers garage and my misses wants to put the zafira in the garage to stop it freezing up and making her late on the school run

Whats the chances of this being repeated!!!!!!!!!!

thanks for the info

;) :x: [dont tell the misses i said that]

not too probable but still a case the new parts i fit seem modified so they may have adressed this situation its also common to the astras but there is no say it was this but i think highley probable it may be worth contacting vauxhall customer care as they love to KEEP customers happy so it may be worth phoning them just to put your mind at rest symtoms usually are ignition playing up either not switching properly or turning the key to start and a breif nothing then cranking or starter spinning when ignition switched to on not start but these faults are usual not all the time i hope i havent worried you too much but its something i used to see quite often hth
