For the doorcards and dashboard, most use Leather-like Vinyl.

About £8 a metre from Fabric shop. You'll need about 3metres.

Leather all the way had mine done a couple of months in cream Jaguar leather.

Its a bugger to keep clean though.

vinyle... fook no

might as well be stock, it makes the car look cheap not fantastic

or you could get one of these. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/90-96-300ZX-INTERIOR-TRIM-KIT-ITALIAN-VINYL-54GBP_W0QQitemZ8003815277QQcategoryZ72223QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

.. been thinking about it for a bit now!

Maybe ask if he will do a group buy?

Ive been looking at that also, the thing is my Z is silver, I have tweed all over including the seats and I'm looking at getting stock black leather seats but I dont want black leather trim, there are that many colours to choose i'm getting pi55ed off with it. Thinking about maybe a grey trim, what you reckon ?

I went for grey alcantara, all a matter of personal taste.

SuffolkZX, what does the Alcantara look like, is it a suede effect material

retrimed mine in vinyl which IMO is good. it cost £15 for the material, so my advice is save £40 (dont get the ebay one) and just go to a fabric shop and buy it yourself!

gaz.

You would find it very hard to notice any difference between quality leather-like Vinyl, and real leather.

From the kits i have seen, there is a MASSIVE difference between a vinyl kit and a real leather retrim. It all comes down to ££ at the end of the day though.

Did mine in leather but only cos I got it cheaper through work (still not been invoiced for it yet though), otherwise I would prob have gone for leather look vinyl.

if you were using a white stick to get about with!!! :wack:

Leather fella ....:bow::cool:

At the end of the day it depends on what ya can afford i think. If ya can afford to buy leather then why go wth vinyl. But ya can def tell the difference between the two, not only when ya working with it but after too. Maybe just my experience of working with both.

I used to work with DFS - the folks that sell suites.

You'd be shocked at the amount of suites out there that are called leather suites but only have leather on the comfort areas - seating and armrests. The rest being leather look vinyl.

I suppose it comes down to the quality of the vinyl, although vinyl will be a uniform finish, whereas with leather you have to accept that there may be some blemishes such as healed wounds off the cow.

yep,it's hard to distinguish leather from good plastics and vinyls nowadays. I think the only difference is the smell . I've just retrimmed my interior with "leatherette" Whatever the hell that is, but it looks and feels like the real thing even though it doesn't smell like it.

but if you have leather seats you dont need to worry!

i retrimmed mine in vinyl (leatherette) and its hard pushed to tell the difference between leather and vinyl.

only thing i can realy say it true leather trim generally has to have some stitching somewhere in the z due to the curves involved IMPO

yep, spent the whole weekend at it, go for it brakedust
