im getting a zed with a jwt chip, but after a few searchs on the chip ive not really found many details...?

whats the deal with boost jets...? its a term ive not come accross before and do al jwt chips come with them fitted?

does the jwt chip accept different maps or is it simply an improved map for higher boost and removing any kinda of top speed limiter.??

ive noticed a few guys using them so im hoping my ignorance can be easily corrected....

thanks andy

Boost Jets are basically welding tips placed in the actuator hose which comes off the turbo hose. This tricks the actuator into thinking that there is less pressure so it doesnt open as soon, thus increasing the turbo pressure.

JWT chip removes the speed limit, and also rises the rev limit a little too. It basically changes the fuel map to allow higher boost pressure.

Hi Andy,

Further to Stuart's response above, let me add the following:

JWT chips come from a US based company called "Jim Wolf Technology" - have a look at their website at http://www.jimwolftechnology.com.

As stuart says, boost jets are devises placed in the actuator hoses which decrease the pressure on the actuator thereby allowing it to open later resulting in higher boost pressure. If you're running higher boost pressure then you need different air/fuel/timing maps to account for this increase. This is what the JWT chip does - it offers different air/fuel and timing maps to allow you to run higher than stock boost pressure. It also does other things like remove the speed limiter, raises the rev limiter slightly, etc.

I hope the above is useful. If you have any further questions don't hesitate to ask ...

And it adds a fortune to your insurance quote:)

only iff ya tell em :p

JWT chip and jets are a really good combo and are a great start on the path to upping the horses under your bonnet. Try and find out what size the jets are as different sizes lead to different boost PSI - eg. 1.2mm will give about 12psi, 1.0mm will give about 14psi and 0.8mm will give about 16psi (very risky on stock tubbies). jets are notorious for giving you boost spikes

the JWT is a well known "safe" chip for the Z32. there are other chips that are more aggressive & can give higher power.
