i've done a search but hav'nt quite found the info im looking for. I believe there are kits you can get to do this, but what colour? Most seem to be red or blue. Got my new wheels yesterday and as I thought they've shown up the old calipers to look pretty dull.

Basically I don't want to colour them, only make them look as new as possible, or is colour the better way?

you can get the paint from halfords. you can clean the calipers, but painting them makes them look better and easier to clean

hammerite is the best and cheapest to use.

go for silver if you want a clean new look, but red would look nice on yours

You can buy a kit, cost £23 from Halfrauds. I have a black (fastest colour) and |I painted mine yellow...way coolest colour...

I used Savage Brake Caliper Paint, made by Trillogy Ltd. This stuff is a two part epoxy paint and dries to a glass like finish and is very tough. Got the kit from a local motor store for about £20 which includes caliper cleaner, paint and hardener for 4 calipers. You do need to follow the instructions carefully but I think the results and cost are well worth it.

Got my kit from Halfrauds - Red then sanded down the Nissan Lettering back to silver.. Looks much better...

Ive had several attempts at painting my brake calipers in a gold paint (two part) and both have looked sh1te so far...the first one just ran straight off again even though the proper cleaner was used and the secound "so called" Gold paint looked more like a Toffee colour.

Needless to say there being done again but not by me :wack: which I think is where the problem was..lol :slap:

Did look at getting them anodised but the alloy has a special coating on it and that rather fooked that idea up :(

The Halfrauds stuff is a 2 part mix..does the job well, probably not much between the different sorts but yellow looks cool...if you have a black car...

The best thing to do is use hamerite.... Yamez on here has just done his in red and it looks real good, he kept the NISSAN logo silver

i got some blue paint from halfrauds, it worked fine even though i did "rush" it. they havent flaked or peeled at all.

worst bit was just as i finished by last brush stroke i stood up and kicked the full tub of paint down my nice clean driveway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :smash:

gaz!

Wo-ho this is going way off topic but to explain, i've had three Zeds. Every one of them had the zbadge missing off the steering wheel :( .

When I traded my old zed for this one i told the guy i was taking the badge with me cos it was missing off the one i was buying. on the drive home (A long F*cking drive from North Yorkshire to southern Eire!) I opened the little compartment between the seats and HEY PRESTO! found another badge.

you can have it for nothing bud, just PM me your address :)

couple of pics of when i did it used the halfords paint kit, although there are brembos fitted now!!

top tip yo need to do about 3coats as it doesnt cover proplery 1st 2nd time after the first layer adhedes it then starts to come together i remember spending a fair few hours doing it,then sanding down the lettering, dont use a large brush use an artists fine tip brush time consuming but much better finish IMO

greg did you buy 2 kits to the red and the white? or is the undercoat type paint from halfrauds white?

no mate when you buy the kit it comes with laquer which you mix with a hardener the logo is standard which iv just sanded to make it stand out

sorry me being thick i think.. but did it come out white when you sanded it? or was the nissan lettering on your calipers white before you painted them? my lettering isnt white so im guessing il need to buy 2 kits to get the desired effect...

ahem, another silly question,

I take it you paint around the edges of the logo and then when its dry put an orbital sander on it, sanding off the red paint? I would imagine you would get a very clean finish this way. As the logo stands out a few mil from the rest and your careful with the sander

Did you say red..........Black please... :duffer:

hammerite as in the spray can stuff? do you need to go for the bbq style extra heat stuff or will it just be fine with normal hammerite?
