Please don't think that I'm a tight arse after you read this! Im trying to save money on fuel thats all. Is it possible to disable the air con system without disabling the normal heater/fan? I keep forgetting to switch the ECON mode on every time I go out and am using petrol I could save. It also makes a strange noise when it is on.

take the belt off to the pump,, or you could fit a lightweight underdrive pully which would save money and you could keep aircon

I had thought about cutting the belt off but am unsure if it would effect the tension of any other belts? Thanks for quick response!

Rather than mess about with the belts, then re-connect them next spring/summer there is a simpler way.....

.....Remember to switch ECON on!!!!

Seriously, leave a note in the car to remind you and you'll soon get used to it. Otherwise switch the whole heating system off each time you exit the car then when you have to switch it on the next time you will remember to press ECON.

Not only that but when it's frosty you may need the a/c for a quick demist.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

you should never dis able a charged system for any more than a couple of weeks. if the pumps not turning it dries the seals out, and the gas escapes. so its a false econnomy. just remember to turn on Econ and run AC for a few mins every couple of weeks.

turn on econ. When you flloor the accelerator the ecu drops out the compressor anyway to save power for what you want it for!

Use auto once a fortnight to keep the system healthy as explained by Fraser
