Regulator / rectifier unit could be knackered?

Must say I don't know much about cars either - just bikes really. Good luck with it!

As with new commercial wiring systems sometimes faults occur when things dont power up properly like when starting and with a flat battery, I have seen all sorts of faults occur in the error memory, but actually they have been generated by improper powering up of the ECU's, have u tried disconnecting the good battery for a few minutes, then re-connect it. I used to get grief like that with multiplex wiring systems even although a 24 volt system, most modern cars have multiplex, maybee i am waffling but worth a try.

No, ive not tried disconecting the battery, i even kept the car powered up whilst changing the battery, i'll try the disconecting it, & see if theres any change, if not, i'll just fit a new alternator ££££!

thanks both for your input, steve
