I have owned my Zed fro 3 weeks and now experienced my first electrical gremlins.

1) Wipers run continuously on their own. this problem occurs now and then. Any hints or suggestions would be welcome. The green and black wire from the motor is constantly at 4.5 volts when the failure occurs at the wiper switch. I think this could be a park switch issue on the motor but i will have another look tomorrow

2) My drivers door window will not go down. I have stripped the switch down and it works ok (the output for the relay pack goes to ground when the switch is pressed). I guess the window amp could be broken. A couple of searches on the forum point in this direction also.

3) I want to buy some 17 or 18 inch wheels for my UK spec TT but the only place i can find is the zcentre and i thought they were a little expensive and they dont do 17s. I still haven't decided what style to get yet, though i have been busy looking at the forums members site for some ideas. Please an someone point me to someone else who sells wheels for the 300zx. Another problem i have been told by 1 company is the uk spec calipers are bigger than a jap imports so not all 300zx wheels will fit is this true?? I have done a couple of searches on the forum but there have been no supplier names mentioned.

Thanks for any responses.

Regards

Never even considered them, didnt think they would cover the zed.....

17 inch run at the same overall diameter as a 16 inch wheel once tyres are on so i would advise for 18 or 19 inch for the larger look and this is also advantageous if your car is lowered or you plan to lower it as this gives you that little extra ground clearance if you went that route. IMHO if you want new wheels then I would first go around various outlets and get prices etc on what will fit, then search the web for that wheel and find the best deal.

Not true at all, they are Identical.

A common problem unfortunatly, company finds out its an import and all of a sudden the parts are completley different and cost more money :xxx:

Most Wheel suppliers will be able to supply a range of alloys with the correct fitment.

The Info you need for fitment is here http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=33550

thanks for the comments....

the door amp is the prob bud i took mine apart and found it had some dry joints ...soldering iron and 5 mins later it works a treat

give it a go ...

I fixed the window this morning. I took the door amp to bits and saw that the solder had cracked on both of the coil pins for the window down relay. longest part of the job was driving to Halfords in my other car to buy some solder.

while at Halfords I did ask about what wheels would fit the zed, they mentioned a few but the tyres were only 215s (for 18 inch wheels), my 16s are running at 225????

Still got problems with the wiper though, the wiper amp looks to be inggo condition, no solder joint issues, all of the components seem to check out. I just need to check out the motor park switch at some point today.

Cheers

There are limited number of wheels available for a ZX as the front calipers are pretty big.

All sizes, 17,18 and 19s will ALL run the same overall diameter as the tyre profiles are chosen to keep it the same. If they didn't then the speedo and ABS would not work correctly.

For a good selection of wheels at reasonable prices try

http://www.wheelmania.co.uk (various designs)

http://www.dtmotorsport.co.uk (sole UK importers of AZEV wheels)

I got my Azevs from the latter - 17s with 235/45/17 front and 255/40/17 rears with Goodyear F1 tyres (the best) and locking wheelnuts for £1000 delivered. They were also drilled in the factory in Germany specifically to fit a 300zx. Dave knows his stuff too - they are very helpful!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

First of all, Hello everyone as this is my first post, I don't actually own a Z yet but intend to when funds allow.

As for alloys, performance alloys lists the 300zx on it's database, although I would say use this site for it's catalogue of alloys and buy them from elsewhere (Not usually very cheap)

There,s a couple of nice sets of 18 inch wheels on ebay at the mo, about £625 a set IIRC
