Hi All :)

Took the zed out this morning for a drive and wondered if any of you guys could shed some light on the following:

1) From a cold start she is VERY slugish with little throttle response and then a sudden jump. This clears up as soon as the engine is hot.

2) In Park the revs are at 1500 regardless of engine temp (surely too high  ) when ideling in drive the revs are 1000.

3) There is also a smell of petrol at idle. Could this be due to the high revs or a fuel PSI problem????

Any and all advice gratefully recieved :D

most 300s idle high whilst warming up due to IAA unit and should rest around 700-1000rpm is normal which yours does

fuel smell now the weather is getting cooler fuel smells are more apparent check all hoses&clamps are tight as more often than not over years they can perish check tighten and replace if nes!

as for slugish startups again this can be normal, but check all connections and clean if you look through the links page at the top there are many things you can try to pep your z up,she probably just needs a little tune which will include oil and filter spark plugs and a general clean up of injectors coilpacks etc

Petrol smell is very comman as greg says, the pipes become lose or perish over time.

If you look in traders, smithy does a fuel line kit to replace them, or try tightening them, worked on mine.

the revs onlt drop to 1000 when the car is idling, other than that they are set at around 1500 at all times. Whats the best way to set them a bit lower?

idle ajustment made from iaa unit ajuster screw next to battery at the back of the plenum is the unit and from the isde of it is ajuster screw

id do an ECU diagnosis check for any errors

clean connections like maf [airflow connector]

clean throttle bodies and reset ecu

before messing with idle ajustment try the tps and make sure thats right which should be 0.4v--0.5 closed, and 4.0 fully open
