Kept on running...............

Mate at work has a zed, as i do.

rang me this morning, he's in work, he cant turn it off !! Had probs last night, alarm kept going off, so disconnected battey.

Today, couldn't get key out. Disconnected battery, engine kept running. Disconnected fuel pump, kept running ??? Took out main fuse - one with the blue wire, still kept running, like it had a life of its own !!!!!!!!

Eventually found ingnition coils thingy (not fuse, cant remeber name at mo).

Engine stopped.

However, ignition lights wont go out, still couldnt remove key. Disconnect battery, and can get key out.

reconnect with key out, all ignition lights etc come on again ??

Any suggestions?

Mine kept running once with a poorly ECU, have you got access to a replacement ECU to try?

Actually the lights etc staying on would suggest a wiring issue I'd reckon. Something is receiving 12V when it shouldn't. Ignition feed probably.

The key release is operated by an electrical solenoid, I think it's an antisnatch thing.

hasn't got a faulty tub timer??

just an idea, as when mines on, obviously can't stop engine and can't remove key.

guessin at the mo LOL

turned the turbo timer off, but will check that.

could be the alarm, though not sure.

cheers for suggestions, any more ??

This happened to my Z last year - although I got the key out on mine, the engine refused to switch off. Of course it had to happen at about 3am making me very popular with the neighbours! I had to put it in gear and stall it to get it to stop running, but the electrics were still getting power.

Turned out that the turbo timer harness was at fault. Once I removed that and reconnected the ignition wires without the harness, it was all sorted.
