Just received a letter from telewest saying my broadband is going to be even faster. I started with 500k then they upgraded to 1mb and now 4mb  and upload speed will change from 128k to 384k.

Plus, some pc security software for download, all free.

I'm really begining to like these lot :D :duffer:

How much do you pay for that per month, and is there a download amount limit?

I pay £25 a month and as far as I know there is no download limit.

ok :)

A year and ½ ago when I bought my DSL I got 512kb up and 512 kb down, they then upgraded it to 1mb/512, and then 2mb/512 and now a month ago to 8mb/1mb. I pay 50€ a month for that..

Never heard. Just curious, with that amount of upload speed, do you have a limit?

My upload speed is 1mb, thats about 120kb/sec. No upload limit.

my telewest/blueyonder is going to

10mbdown 368up for 35quid a month

i don't really use the 4mb though, but its nice to have lol

Wow, that's really fast for a domestic broadband provider is it not?

I'm impressed

I got the email aswell, mine is going from 2mb download 256k upload, to 10mb download 384k upload no limits for free!

It's the fastest you are able to get with ADSL over here :)

Domestic Inet access in Hong Kong - $200 per month for....

Gigabit connection! 1gb up 1gb down :o

UK is getting better, but still far from world leaders 24mb down, 3mb up in Sweden/Norway something like £25 a month. :)

A few ISP's are now trialing ADSL2, thats why blue yonder are upping theirs.

They've got the ADSL2 over here since a couple of months too, you can get 24Mb down, but still only 1Mb up :( I think it was about 70€ a month, without a transfer limit. But I wonder from where you could download with 3Mb/sec :)

Why are companies so stingy with upload bandwidth?

Ive just been told I am being upgraded at no extra charge by TW to 10 Meg.

Its great, but most sites dont run that fast anyway.

Why are companies so stingy with upload bandwidth?

It's not the companies, ADSL stands for Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line. The DSL technology can't handle upload speeds higher than 100Kb/sec. I'm not sure how it is if you i.e. have Cable, it might be able to handle higher speeds. But usually companies also restrict it because they don't want you to i.e. run a server from home.

Ken

my new house isnt with Telewest - my old one was :(

I used to have their 3MB connection but am now paying £30+ a month for 2MB ADSL

which is maxed out constantly - 4MB and 10MB are only dreams for me :(

I'm on telewest 1mb broadband and I haven't had no e-mails,letters or nothing saying that they'll upgrade me!! do you reckon it's worth getting in touch with them or just waiting for a while??
