December 19, 200025 yr Guys, I have looked at the last 12 months of posts but could not see a post about Dump Valves. Are they worth getting, I know they have the sounds, but on a techy level should you have one. If so can anyone recommend a good one that will be good enough for all the upgrade stages ? If this is another post always repeated....sorry guys. M.
December 19, 200025 yr the good news is they are boss and look the doggies dnglies the bad news is you have to buy two as you have a v-twin engine. the two types to go for are the blitz trumpets or the hks sequential jobbies speak to johnny i'm sure he can do you a deal on them
December 19, 200025 yr Mark. We have just fitted a pair pf HKS Sequential Dump Valves along with a steel intake piping kit to a 300. The operational range for the SQV works both at low Boost pressure and high boost pressure. I must say I have never been a great fan of the sound you get with dump valves, however upon fitting this kit I found the response of the car had greatly improved. We also fitted a HKS Super AFR which adjusts the air fuel ratio from unit within the car. This has a feature EIDS Electronic Idle Stabilizer which prevents the engine from stalling or stumbling which can occur when the blow off valves are discharged. All in all I am greatly impressed by the set up. CheerZ Johnny
December 19, 200025 yr i have blitze dump valces and the noise gets a bit much every now and then (its only god for scaring grannys) im quite convinced ive lost something (horsepower responce) since ive put them on. i would recomend them as it is another gadget to put on your car.
December 19, 200025 yr I agree with the lads and would recommend them, in that they scare old people / animals and are a firm favorite with the ladies..... Altho from a performance issue they will hurt rather than help performance, not by much tho. This is due to the fact the 300Z engine already has recirculation valves which take the built up gas at gear change and vent it back into the inlet to help the turbos to spool back up again whereas Blow off or Dump Valves as Cossie owners call them simply vent the gas into the atmosphere hense the cool sneaze sound. The stock Recirc valves are good for about 500 - 600 BHP. If you are looking for a performance mod look more towards ECU, Exhaust, Intake, Pulley. If your looking for another real nice Toy, BOV's are your fella. Z ya Nico91TT
December 19, 200025 yr The stock valves must be capped off to get the full benefit from the SQV`s Horsepower gain you will not achieve but response especially with a car running with a good chunk of power is very noticeable. Yes the ladies to love a good WUSSSSHHHHH. CheerZ Johnny Boy.
December 19, 200025 yr Cheers for your input guys, think I am going to give myself a Xmas Pressie !!! Johnny, the setup that you mentioned, how much did it cost all in ? M.
December 19, 200025 yr BOV / Dump Valves are useless in a Z, at least up to 600 / 700 HP (besides the cool sound - placebo effect) Buy something else Henri
December 19, 200025 yr I have to say that I agree with Henri, over the years I've seen these posts on twinturbo.net loads of times and the results are usually "NO Differance", occasioanlly "worse" and never prooven better. This applies when running with stock turbos, big replacements are another matter. I believe the system is worse off with aftermarket ones beacuse it's expecting the air to re-circulate through the intake and it doesn't. But, if you like the sounds then get 'em.
December 19, 200025 yr If all you want is plenty of noise and an excuse to fit another upgrade, then get them. If you want them from a performance point of view then don't fit them. I found my Z actually responds better and feels quicker (not proven though) with the stock recirculation valves fitted although you can fit BOV's with these still in place. My advice would be to get something else worthwhile or join the likes of RS turbo's, subaru's and renault 5 turbo's. All RICE IMO
