I'm a little concerned about my auto. For some reason it now requires quite high revs to pull away and it also seems to be permanently in overdrive without pressing the switch on the gearshift? (Mine is UK) and pressing the switch makes no difference. Finally it does not seem to go into final gear. Any suggestions please?

The more I think about it and the way it pulls away it is as though it in second gear. Help me please. :headvswal:

You tried dropping the fulid from the box and changing it and cleaning the Autobox filter? Also see if the fluid smels burnt on the dipstick.

Do you have the uprated oil cooler?

And start saving for a Baggins rebuild!

Go manual.

It's more robust, more fun, cheeper to repair if it does go (which it shouldn't) and adds more value to the car if you need to sell it.

Changing the fluid should help the old torque converter and try some of the fluid stuff for faster changes. I can't remember what its called but, dpmotorsport put some in mine when I had the auto box and it made loads of difference.

Where is the filter located?

You have to drop the pan off the bottom of the gearbox to get to it. Make sure you have drained the oil first.

OOh that sounds messy. Would I reach it by just jacking front end up onto axle stands?

Yes you can, or make yourself some ramps, you'll be surprised how much easier jobs will be with them.

If you need a replacement auto gearbox, I have a good one for sale.

I have also decided that it does not go into top gear and as a result is also driving high revs.

Change the fluid and see what happens :smash:

Otherwise it's a new gearbox :(

I would like to thank you all for your advice. I was hoping it was an electronic fault purely because I found 1st to work when using first on it's own but not when using drive or 2nd so I have tinkered with the box in the footwell and reset the ECU and it now works. I was dreading the thought of the expense of a new gearbox but at the same time relishing the excuse to get ZTech to rebuild it better and faster but I don't have to for now. I'm off out again to double check that O/D works again.

Thanks again.

Faulty servo's?

I'd still change the fluid if I was you.

TBH it has quite new oil in as I split a pipe a few weeks ago when I was tinkering with the radiator and lost a lot of fluid then. I will now suck it and see so to speak!
