You cant take a feed from the ECU harness.

I think the ECU interprets the CAS signal then sends a tach pulse out. It should appear on one of the plugs that connects the engine loom to the body loom.

Theres a tach output connector under the hood if thats any use. its used by nissan when they hook up there test equipment.
