I am badly in need of some new discs on the front.

I am having real problems deciding which route to take though and am on a tight budget.

I can get a really good deal on some aftermarket stock discs which work out at £92 the pair including a 3 year warranty against warping etc. See link below....

From the same company I can get them drilled and grooved for another £70 so totalling £162.

I am sure once before someone posted that discs make no difference at all (drilled and grooved or not) unless they are bigger than stock. Anyone know if this is true?

In which case I guess drilling and grooving is only really going to mess with the life of the pads and increase the chance of the discs cracking?

I'm also considering the Rotordiscs that Chris@Getgreddy sells....

These are at the top end of my budget but I think they look really cool. Is that it though, is looks gong to be the only advantage or will they improve stopping power?

What option do you think will the the best overall?

Cheers,

Justin

Best option is buy my Skyline discs and then get the brackets that offset your calipers to the larger diameter. ;)

What sorta price are you looking for and any idea where I can get the brackets and how much for?

Justin

The disks are in the for sale section for £200. Not sure who sells the backets at the moment, worth checking with Smithy, Danny, MJP and Getgreddy. I'm suer one of them will know.

And me ;)

I have opted for the EBC sport disk upgrade. It is essentially a drilled and grooved stock replacement with EDC red-stuff pads and goodridge hoses. I cannot vouch for it yet as it is still in the air getting other stuff done but it was not lots of cash and actually less than the stock parts. The hype on the box says 1999 Max power brakes of the year! - What an endorsement - not.

Without being controversial IMHO I think the 'rotordiscs' are a completely bogus design as looking at them they actually significantly reduce the effective surface area of the disc that the pads can grip. I know drilling and grooving does that somewhat but to my eye it looks like you lose about 20% of disc surface with those. To me it would be a purely cosmetic upgrade and a backward step from stock.

Dude, do you know how many EBC pads actually snap in 2 :nelson: :x: :wack:

Rotordisk is 280mm stock size with the design outside of the stock size :o

Red Stuff?

Oh I will be sick as shit if that happens..........how are they with warranty claims? :headvswal

So what is the function of the design then just show?

If so are we to conclude that rotor discs are simple stock replacements that look (adopt britney voice) 'kinda neat';

Benefits of wavey type discs are said to be increased cooling and improved braking due to surface cutting into pads more than conventional ones.

Only thing that I have put them on is a bike and they did what they said on the tin:D

Justin, 3G do them in the boy racer mags for £117 + £25 for dotted and slotted, but they are not cross drilled as in all the way through, just a divot in the surface.

£92 for stock ones is good, what make are they? AP lockheed, ADL etc?
