You don't LOL

Its a performance ECU and that's about it - nothing too exciting.

Increases fueling over stock boost levels, improves response, increases maximum revs by a couple of hundred RPM, removes speed limiter etc.

Same as other ECU's really.

Yes you should be fine to up the boost to around 1bar / 14psi with no problems.

Has the boost controller been removed from the car before you got it? It must have had one with those other mods.

What is it boosting to on the gauge now?

just fitting an after market one, so ill find out when its all plumbed in, it goes off the scale on the stock one. its had gauges fitted before as i can see where they where screwed into the pillar, but i'm not sure about a boost controller.

If it's going off the scale then it's already got a boost upgrade of some sort!

The needle should only go to 9psi (0.6 bar) which is about two thirds of the way up the scale. If yours is an import then the gauge will be in mmHg.

You'll probably find it's got boost jets installed in the wastegate pipes and these will have to be removed before fitting the controller.

Only problem is, you're not going to see any power increase with your expensive controller!
