i have 1992 Z32 manual. looking at various upgrades. boost controller, turbos, induction, de-cat. what would be a good ECU buy?

i see zedworld do one, Get Greddy also do an upgrade to current ECU. Are these any good?

Heard that if i upgrade turbos and injectors in future would have to pay to upgrade ECU again. Would i be better off buying a proper ECU? Especially as was hoping to get bits fitted. Then tuned on rolling road to fine tune ECU.

Is this worth doing?

Would i get more horses from a proper ECU?

Any of you guys got any experience of ECU's?

Regards Mez

List all your mods exactly what they are and I will be able to point you in the right direction.

OK. Mainly ECU query to go with the following :-

Profec B

Greddy side intercoolers

Full De-cat pipes

Iridium Plugs

Induction Kit

Plus, BOV's to sound nice.

Later thinking of

JWT Sport 530 Ball Bearing Turbos

555 injectors

Do i go For Zedworld, Get Greddy upgrade on current ECU. Or proper ECU? Bearing in mind upgrades in future. Performance output, and ability to modify map for tuning on rolling road.

Is a moded ECU as good as a proper ECU. What sort of popwer could i be looking at @ fly & wheels

Thankyou for any help.

An aftermarket ECu is probably OTT for those mods, a re-programmed (chipped) stock one is fine. Obviously an aftermarket is easier to re-programm, but also more sensitive to changes. Because the stock one uses MAF for load reference it compensates a little for changes. With a TPS/MAP type system you really need to re-tune for every change. Having said that, if you fit the 555's / 530s you will need it re-chipped! Very few people I know of can modify the stock ECu on the dyno (I can).

If you do want to go down the aftermarket route, I've done new trigger disks for the CAS that will work with the Emerald M3d, and am planning to make up a conversion harness so that it'll be sort of plug and play, but also reversible.

hehe...wish I understood what you just said there.....
