Hi, i just bought a red 300zx, so i'm new around here and i thinking of of starting to make some modifications and i need to know how much hp a stock bottom end can handle?

i am running slight mods , induction , ecu de cat exhaust and estimate the zed is now at around 380 bhp it is plenty quick enough at this with stock internals boost at 12 psi however the weak link is the clutch ..it needs to be upgraded as it is on its limit nearly at stock bhp

And how far can you go before need some forgies... rods... etc?

Personally I would say 400bhp with stock pistons, and 450-480 with stock rods.

you are better off asking that question at the http://www.zclub.net . They are more up on the Z31 series than we would be.

The engine in the z32 t/t - is the vg30dett mate.

Z32 and Z31 are really chassis models.

 

In 1989 the 300ZX had a complete make over from the ones out in the early 80s. The car is totally different.
