Rattle

Hi all

Still have a rattle from the front of the engine when cold. Turn the engine off then back on and the rattles gone!

Anyone had anything similar?

Could be either an exhaust heatshield rattling or a turbo heatshield. Mine rattle a bit when on boost.

sounds like a piece of card in your bicycle spokes. Not so much a tinny metallic sound.

How about your cam belt tensioners, cant they get a bit rattly when cold?

That sounds like the right area.

Will it do any harm to leave it?

Looks like a big job

Apparently it wont and will be fine, but these should be done at the cam belt change. Just hope that if they rattle, they arnt dry of any lubrication as if they were to seize, then your cam belt would wear through in about 10,9,8,7,6 gone!

The engine has just been rebuilt, but I don't know if these were checked.

Is it a big job to take off the covers to have a look?
