noticed sometimes my boost level pulse at at the top end when accelerating hard, doesnt do it all the time though. would a boost leak cause this?

Its only hapends when controller turned upto 1 bar. Boost only hits 0.9bar though and saftey is set at 1.1bar.

You have options to change set and gain figures on most controllers, incorrect settings will lead to the exact problem you have got.

The max boost level you have inputed (set) is so close to the gain level ( rising rate of boost) that the boost level been achieved is peaking too early most likely even at only medium throttle openings, the controller is monitoring actual boost and is trying to maintain such a small incriment the duel solenoid is cutting then re-opening (cycling)

over shooting very slightly each time ( too high then too low) hence a feeling of pulsing.

Assuming all is well with the installation ( no leaks) then you need to do some more road testing in order to get the settings correct.

Take a clip board with you, divide the paper in to a series of before and after sections,

Now every time you make an adjustment make a note of the before and after effect, if you can use the same bit of road and make double checks of each setting change at both small and wide throttle openings, along side each change remember to put a little comment as to how it felt, this will help you remember each run.

After some conciderable time you will should have enough data to decide on the settings for the different modes that appear on most controllers eg. prog 1= dry,

prog 2 = wet, prog 3 = valet , prog 4 =wife (gulp!)

Settings from other cars will not be the same as your`s as each car has a different characteristic in how it boost`s and in how the car run`s.

Before you do the tests make sure the timing is correct and there are no boost leaks and in my experience that you have plenty of petrol!! once used over half a tank one afternoon on a 3 mile test road but actually covered close to 100 miles during the set up.

Do take care to watch the road, a helper in the car can make it safer to make adjustments mid run, rather than risk taking your eyes of the road.

The differnce between an incorrectly set controller and a well set up one can be eye opening, looking for just max boost only can lead to bad settings and disapointing results, better to get the settings right and look for the max benefit not necessary the max boost.

Hope that helps

oh god this sounds familiar :(

i would be very interested to know what turbos you're running there...

but in the mean time

set the duty cycle to 100% and double check you're not running too much advance on the intake cam be very very careful to control the boost with your right foot - are you still having a problem ? check the turbo actuators are set the same and stiffen up the actuators if neccessary

regards,.

lol...errmm...yer...what jeff said

I used KRSMAYO to help me set mine on a new stretch of unmanned road(private of course mr policeman)

Took quite a few runs in 4th and well over 100 to get best performance.

I suffered this exact problem but now have found a perfect setting of 16psi.

I had an AVCR and thus showed me on screen exactly what everything was doing so it made it alot easier

Happy Testing

WTF!!!!!! DO NOT set the duty cycle or Set to 100% as this will basically give you more boost than your stock tubs or injectors can handle I.E BOOM Even if you try and hold the boost on the throttle this is a very dangerous way of testing

Alex, Marcus only has stock tubs so the actuators are not adjustable

Dont know what 100% duty cycle is so no chance me setting that lol

Think it must be my gain set to high as it was fine before but wasnt hitting enough boost so bumped the gain right up. its only in the days it does it, tonight the car was fine, went like a rocket and hit 1 bar

thats the whole point - it should allow you to make more boost - this way you know if its your control or something mechanical - i agree though you have to be very very careful - it would be more sensible to ramp up the duty cycle in 10% intervals - while still being careful. if you get more boost with higher duty cycle you know its just the set up on the boost controller - If you get to 100% and still only make 10 psi or something you know that its mechanical. If its mechanical my first guess would be a weak actuator allowing a slight movement in the wategate valve
