anyone know how i get rid of these annoying windows popups

 

the ones that keep telling me i have registry probs and possible spyware and ad ware probs an so on

 

i have non of the above but they keep poping up

switch your browser to firefox, and get a copy of spybot S&D and run it, your problems should dissapear, hopefully.

 

edit - ah, well in that case what you want to do is Start>run>services.msc and from there find the messenger service, set it to manual, and stop it.

It might be a good idea to get yourself some firewall software on there too.

As above, I started using firefox and don't get them anymor. Plus firefox is much better with tabbed browsing (more than one page open at the same time, in tabs. Rather than millions of windows explorer pages open).

Actually, there is a MS IE toolbar that enabled tabbed browsing.

Oh, didn't know that. Looks like it was released as an answer to the massive popularity of firefox and MS seeing there market slice dropped. It would take a lot to make me go back to IE. I find just about everything better with firefox. The download management is very good as well. Maybe MS will improve IE with the next release.
