Hi guys

I have just got my car back from being serviced at a Nissan dealer the guy who serviced it has a skyline and is a bit of an enthusiast, and recommended i have the work below carried out elsewhere as nissan will charge extortionate sums of cash.

basically everything seems to be in order apart from the bushes on the rear subframe since one is leaking. am I correct in saying that instead of replacing the entire subframe (like what nissan want me to do), I can buy a rear subframe bush kit from the likes of say, courtesy and have it fitted at another garage?

If I can just replace the bushes on there own, are there any uprated parts that anyone here would suggest?

the osf track control arm is leaking too (which i understand is a common problem?) are there uprated bushes for these too which will stop leaking? or shall I just replace the arm?

thanks guys

the front tension rod bushes can be replaced with uprated Nismo ones, Polybush ones (tho there has been some talk of these causing rod failures) or fit new adjustable arms with rose joints replacing the bushes.

I have replaced all the bushings on my car and the rear subframe is the most time consuming i'm affraid.

I bought a set from courtesy but that doesn't include everything you need. It took me nearly 2 days to drop the rear sub frame and replace the parts. Take along time as there is so much you need to remove. Definitly best to use a 2 poster for this job.

If you dont have a decent press tool the old subframe bushes are a tw*t to get out but not imposible. Just use a drill and core dril all the way round finally cutting out the sleave with a hack saw. New ones will slide in easy.

Defintily a good mod as they stiffen up the back end and will eliminate any wheel tramp with big power. Only downside is that transmision/diff noise will be present in the car due to the solid bushes. Not loud but noticable.

what was missing from the courtesy kit?

i was thinking of buying the 'Energy Suspension Z32 Rear Sub Frame Set', and 'Energy Suspension Differential Carrier Bushing Kit', is this what you bought from courtesy?

The kit that your looking at does contain all you need for the diff and rear subframe however if you want to do all the rear bushings you will need to buy the rear control arm and axel bushes aswell.

They do sell a master set which I bought which also contains some of the front bushing although again I had to buy many of the others separately.

Argument to say if it aint broke dont fix it, but as I wanted to do the lot it made sense to do all of them whilst the car was in pieces.

The price Zen Garage charge (topless) is very good, most places wont be able to touch it for that. Its a lot of work as the whole rear subframe has to be dropped.

Easy way out of this is to fit whiteline pineapplles .As long as the orginal bushes arent too knackerd these will clamp up hard against the standard ones 1 hr to fit easy to fit £50 demon tweeks .
