ive heard of the audigy , hows the quality??

most of what ive read about the audigy says its more

suited for super gaming...

Likewise, get pk ,he loves talking about this stuff, and he'll eat your family up after (he's got a large appetite)! Dave

Creative Labs stuff is good value for an all-in-1 solution but IMHO it's not exactly pro-audio quality, and their software will take over your whole system! Drives me mad...

If you have hi-spec requirements (sounds like you do) I'd avoid it. I'm a bit behind the curve at the moment though, so I can't recommend anything...

ok.. the mbox is nice has a few limitations you can also use it with pro tools free which is still available from digidesigns website for both mac and pc, there is a patch for the pc version that removes the 8 audio track limit and gives you 32 tracks of audio instead. ahem..(freely available on the net may i add)

the emu is a nice interface however that also has limitations and the frequency response is a little limited also the mic inputs are a little harsh on times.

personally i would never ever use a dell for home studio use, dells are plain old crap.

your best to have a pc made for you, also get the fastes board you can afford, and also one with sata raid onboard, that way you can have two sata drives, one for the operating system and software and another for streaming the audio in real time , also get a good processor, i dont rate intel anymore, all my pc's are amd chipset and i have never had one fail.

I have to say though that i only use macintosh g4/g5 computers in the studios as i have done for years and all my setup is mac based purely becuase of the fact is a professional machine.

i use digital performer mac only and pro tools with pro controls and an oxford and ssl desk. at home i have a 96 channel set up for home programming.

as for other audio interfaces you might consider the new motu traveller interface, this can be powered from the firewire port only as well as an external psu. it also has a built in mixer.

its compatible with all pc software and the drivers are updated regularly.

the options are endless but the main thing is, have a pc built for you, dont buy a pre built dell, hp, or packerd bell. get the computer built tested, and get an interface that you like. find a music store and try them out, dont be pressured into a decision.

if your still not sure.. talk to me

si

as show previously my little home suite..

pk1 your the man i more impressed with your set up than

if it was a 600hp zed.. im a million miles from nowhere dont

have the choices i would have in england or usa ..

i was looking at maybe a carillon computer. i was checking out the MAC"S g5

but my god they are expensive ..ill look into the motu...

tks much pal.....

if your gonna stay pc then the carrilion is for you and the fact is that if there is a problem you can remote link to the tech server and someone will fix it online in real time, if not all the software and other tools are there ready for you , very nice music pcs.

if you do want to go mac then you can get a second hand g4 dual processor very cheap these days.

Its all much of a mucjness. They are all good but its what the sound comes out from that makes the biggest difference. I would buy a good sound card and great speakers or external amp set up. I use a Packard bell digital theater 5.1 digital I know thats a bit dated 5.1 now but it still sounds good to me and although it wont blow the windows out it does rock :nana2: . IMO.

as show previously my little home suite..

my setup looks similar to that, it's called Propellerhead Reason :D

nice z32king i use reason very nice software im into calypso music

basically.also love rock i grew up in the hippy gen in america.

i do a cd every year for the past five at christmas here .

its our carnival .i get some radio play but i need to bring my quality up.

i a guitar player not all that great with keyboards , but seeing studio

is in my house i can spend all the time getting it right ..

i manage to salvage 4 songs from my dead computer so ill try and

put them out for christmas.. so much stuff out for music recording

its gets hard to choose....

Blimey PK1 that's some setup!

What's your involvement with music? Production / Home musician / etc?

In fact another thread required for this...
