Hi Guys, Just recently got my 91 TT Auto and am looking to install an induction kit. I'm just after the nice slurping sound, not really looking for any performance gain (as its fast enough already!)

I've read some threads here about moisture problems and damage to the maf with the wrong kits.

Any suggestions as to what I should put in as I don't want to cause any damage by fitting something cr@p.

Look forward to any replies.

Thanks

as long as you have the splash guard behind the bumper and your headlamp panel isnt vented (or is covered from inside) you wont have a problem with anything

I'm sure someone more knowlegable will give a proper answer, but basically avoid the sponge based ones. My hks one works excellently in the dry, but doesn't like the wet at all (I just have to take it easy so it doesn't suck at the rain). I think the twin ones put the cones in a better spot, also splash guards may be a help. Sorry for the poor answer.

splash guards are a massive help, i had a HKS mushroom filter (foam one) on my old car and never ever had a problem in the wet

Did you make the splash guard yourself? I need to sort something before the bad weather gets here. Dave

no bud, its stock, attaches to the inside of the front bumper. il try and get a pic for you later if it stops raining

If its noise you are intersted in I think the the Blitz SUS gives the best sound.

I almost Agree mate , As thats what i have on at the moment but now i have been swayed to a twin apexi !!

Cheers mate. Appreciated. Dave

Mate i have a single Apexi at the mo....does it make that much diff sound wise then when u got to twin???

I'm sure it been proven on here before but the Blitz SUS is the best available for the Z as it's metal based and isn't affected in wet weather!! Have had one on mine for 3 years now without any running problems in all weathers. Also i've got a vented headlight panel and Blitz makes the best induction noise!! Ask Luke at the Z centre for more details as that's who I got mine from!! Cheers, Jon

ive got a blitz SUS sittin on a shelf at home that came off me dads Scooby....im sure it would fit with some adjustment, do you know what adapters i would need if any?? I have an apexi cone at the mo.

I cant find the link anymore but there was a test done covering all the top makers of induction kits for the Zed, in basic it said the Apexi had the best filtration, Blitz the most noise and both about the same in BHP gains. I must admit I have not had any problems in the wet with my Blitz induction, I have the splash guard still fitted and a Stillen vented nose panel.

Do you need a fitting Kit for the blitz mate?

Nope bolts straight on, PM if you'd like to order :)

Thing is like i said mate i have one off a scooby that sittin on a shelf not being used so may have a crack with that and see if there a diff ;)

Unless Blitz have changed their designs, the fliter comes with it's own MAF plate, which yes bolts directly on, if yours came from the early scoobies, then i would expect it to fit as the early models came with same MAF as the Zed, i think scoobies later on change the bolt pattern, not a 100% on that though.

Ah right, well this is from a 97 classic STI so maybe it may work then? :D

Cheers Smithy.

I have not got one of those, and at present I have got a HKS mushroom which I have never had a problem with even in the pi55ing down rain speeding along the motorway. But I am now getting a Blitz SUS :hyper: as i would like a better sounding filter and also my HKS is looking a bit rusty and tatty now but still performs well.

Hi Speedemon,

Where can I get a spalsh gard like yours

Its Yaseen that has the splash guard bud, my thread says I do not have one and that I have never had any trouble. Cheers.

Thanks bud, think I need to look at getting one for the winter. Dave

Could'nt a skilled person make up a splash guard that looks better but still performs just as good??????

If you get the Blitz cone get rid of the splash guard all together - you don't need it & having it there is just depriving yer filter of nice fresh air!! You will then get loads of air under the front spoiler circulating the cone and get the strostek front nose to let air in from above - Job done max air flow to filter all times!! Trust me been running my Z for 3 yrs with this exact set up and no water or running problems ever!!  :duffer:
