What pistons and conrods would be sufficient for a big build, i'm doing this bit by bit and need to look at replacing these soon the rest can follow later.

I want to build the car upto 700+bhp but need pistons and conrods which can take the stick.

what are Wiseco pistons and eagle rods like. They must be Cheaper than Jun, Greddy etc. for a reason are they amble for this kind of build.

Reason why i don't just get Jun is because i'm on a budget and by the time you take everything into consideration this soon mounts up.

Sorry Jaffa if you are on a budget then DO NOT even think about it as you will never stop spending trust me.

I have looked into this and listen to the above statement, you dont go for a 700bhp car on a budget, it just doesnt happen......

oh what thats that one out of the window,

What do you reccomend i should do?

So does that mean Wesico and Eagle arn't upto the job? What would you reccomend, as i'm doing it bit at a time, it gives me more flexability.

Eagle make good strong rods, not sure about the Weisco pistons and that BHP though IMHO

You are better off working out your budget and then asking what BHP you can get for your money?

good idea. i'll think what i've got to spend.

is it poss to do it in stages, such as pistons con rods, and later cams and cam gears, and then etc.

Do you want a complete rebuild, if so tell us your budget and I will advise, give us your current spec as well, and do you want turbos/injectors included in that figure?

Wiseco pistons are fitted to loads of fairly high powered 200SXs, where they are regarded as the best you can get for the money. Usually a fair bit cheaper than Jun, HKS etc.

I've got 4 going in my S13, SRRAE has them in his zed doesn't he?

Yes I have them on my Z. Not had any problems. Think I have a ring problem due to ablown head gasket.

Z1Motorsport have made some very powerful engines with the Wiseco pistons.

don't under-estimate wiseco pistons.

... Wiseco, Prox and JE (another very well known producer of high performance pistons) are all owned by the same company !

from a stock Twin turbo how much BHP gain can you get per £1000 pound spent? (upto the first £7000)

For the first 1000 you can get roughly speaking 300 rwhp, and then it is diminishing returns for your money after that!

Yeah seems harsh seeing as so many clubs use their parts....tell us more....

Jaffa, i think pretty much the majority here who have new pistons have the wiseco's, i've not heard any bad issues with them over the pond and have been in Zeds with some high bhp ( US bhp, lol) so in a rebuild of reasonable amount of power, these would suit yer fine, other than that for the block it's quite strong, though i would suggest copper ringing the block as i did many years ago incase you run higher boosts too, it will safe guard against a head gasket going.A bit of work on the heads and possibly a JWT mild cam job too. Add to that bigger injectors, decent new SMIC's, Divorced waste gate pipes, decent Tubs, Chip, zorst you'll have a pretty quick motor on yer hands and reasonable reliable if all done correctly. :D

no i was a bit harsh saying that, its just there was a bad batch of weisco and there was a few problems, and the problem is there are no comebacks but yes they seem to be used with no problems by most
