Could be a MAF or CAS problem? Is it a dead cut or more like a power loss?

Probably worth hooking up a conzult then watching what all the sensors do as it happens.

If your in second or third it nearly fires you through the wind screen. Almost like you stood on the brakes.

Sound like the cas unit.

Mine does that but only when its raining and the filter gets a loada water in it

Are you using blanking plugs for your re-circs?

If so just check them..

Mine blew one out last week and caused the same symptoms like a faulty MAF...Got some nice blingy alloy caps in their now...no probs :smash:

Unbelievable, but absolutely right.

Thanks Black Magic I owe you a pint. :duffer:

This has never happened before it must have something to do with the headlamps being out and generaly the car being pulled apart. I used to have a greenstuff cone. Is it just Apexi's that do this?

Cannot believe it. I saw this post late on yesterday and thought yep it was peeing down all night. Started her this morning and as soon as she was warmed up no problem.

Going to have to invent something to provent this in future.

I had the same problem yesterday after it was pooring it down! I have an Apexi filter which I think I need to change!

Unbelievable, but absolutely right.

I think all filters will do this as the water droplets will upset the fine wire in the maf...

The way to stop it is to fit a splash panel just inside the bumper in front of the filter...

I have one waiting to go but never quite get round to it :D

I have also read on here that others have fitted some sort of sheilding over the top of the filter as well to stop water dripping down onto it allthough you dont have a vented nose panel so that shouldnt be happining to yours but i would definately get a splash panel

These were fitted as standard i think on the Z but were often removed when fitting an aftermarket front bumper.

I have also heard suggestions of people using a special MotoX filter oil on the filter to dispell the water but i would not reccomend this as it would then also collect dust and dirt very quickly and you would have to remove and clean the filter quite often :nono:

Glad you found the problem anyway... :duffer:

I'll start fabing something up to keep her dry. Though I used to have a 99 spec front end which didn't give as much cover as this one and the Greenstuff filter never did this. It was a much longer filter and clearly visable from the front. So got hit directly by the rain. mmmmmm. Strange.

i had similair prob with mine, was also suspected cas, however it was actually the throttle position sensor, well the connector, if it is it will happen at slightly different revs depending on gear you are in. the cutting is detonation from incorrect timing because the ecu things your foot is in a difffenrent position to it is and it does collaborate with the readings for the afm
