How long is a piece of string???

i suppose it depends on:

how much your mortgage is

how high maintenence your mrs is

how often it breaks

how many miles you want to do

is it your only car

do you do the lottery

:rofl:

Is it giro day?

chav type owner who doesnt want to do any servicing/maintenance but expects it to go on regardless, £5-7k pa (until it dies)

Macca type owner who wants to race the space shuttle & cant go more than 24hrs without buying some new mod, £100-250k pa ;)

I reckon if youe got things like 19" wheels etc and a TT

and young

then at least 400 quid a week

I think this comes into the catagory of "If you have got to ask then you cant afford one"?

I know the exact salary you need to own a zed.

it's about 5k more than i earn

Im coping ok aslong as my missus gives up buying garden furniture FFS (ask Macca!!)

20K IMO just to run and maintain.....

30K to mod, run & Maintain.....just.... :D

ooops mine will be up for sale soon then lol (over my dead body :smash: )

Apart from the actual purchase of the car, the running costs must be in line with something like a Jag XK8.

But salary isn't so important, so long as you have a good ZX and ensure it is looked after. You must have a slush fund of £3000 just in case something breaks, although the ZX is essentially a reliable car even the best ones are getting old now.

If you earn less than £25k (or £30k in the home counties) and have a mortgage then don't buy one IMHO

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

they way i see it is if you really like a car than go for it dont winge when it brakes down just except it... money isnt a big worry, sourcing parts is... i dont earn that much but im very hands on and maintain my cars...people jump to conclusions when younger less well paid people buy these sort of cars get labled wrongly...ive worked my bo{{ocks off to get this car and im gonna enjoy it..but at the end of the day if i need the money i will sell her..but in the mean time shes my beasty and i will do my upmost to maintain her.

and just to add most of my old friends are still without driving licences still live at home with mummy n daddy still scrounge off of the state dont give a fooook about anything apart from smoking there selves into a coma and one of them gettin so high too many times is now suffering from drug induced paronoid schizophrenia.. so all in all im not doing to badly seeing as im one of them youngsters! oh and not all people under the age of 25 are chavs..

it all depends on if you can do your own maintinence, i can or know somebody who can so it only cost me parts, also this site has saved me thousands

I know the exact salary you need to own a zed.

yeah, that must be true for a lot of us

Let's see:

Insurance for year = £1,250

Tax = £190

MOT = £50

Mods (minor) + maintenance for year = say £1,500

Total = £57 per week.

Being watched by doggers and outrunning a fiesta? Priceless.
