Is This Nornal Or Not?????

After my car warms up, you can hear the fan in the engine bay going faster! The more I rev the louder the fan, it sounds like a loud hoover...Any ideas if this is normal with the recent hot weather?

Featured Replies

Viscous coupling on the fan changes its state of slippage depending on surrounding temperature (ie engine) they can fail and either lock up so run all the time or the opposite and slip, this can cause overheating in traffic.

Having said that, the last few days have been a bit warmer so the coupling may be doing what it is supposed to do, the loud vacuum sound is caused bt the enclosed fan shroud channelling the air.

Hope that helps.

Thats Jeff, I was a worried about the load noise the fan was making when reving the engine but like you said it sounds like its doing its job....

I get this as well mate, never had any problems with overheating or anything...

it does sound like a giant hoover when it goes for it though yeah
