Is it a good idea to drive with the lights on (Im about to fit HIDs and wonder wether it will damage them being on all the time?)

I leave them on so car stands out more - not that it should need to

People just dont seem to see me coming and pull out on me - happened lots - especially in my biking days too (I think thats where leaving headlights comes on from).

Well i got me bike lights on all the time  driving a car with lights on is IMHO good thing :D but not with front fogs on cos you just look a complete T.w.a.t :non: and you can pick up 3 points aswell...

IMHO driving with the lights on without good reason is a bad thing.

In days gone by seeing a car with lights on meant something, these days it usually just means you've got a Saab or a Volvo or you're a pillock !

I tend to drive with my lights on no matter what vehicle i drive only because i think its safer to especially on the motoway.

but at least you've seen them....and if that makes the difference between an accident or no accident....

ANDY;

You wait till my Mrs reads this; she has a 93 Saab convertable and i bet she does not think she is a pillock !! :slap:

  Wheelman out !

Where I live it's stated in the law that you have to have your lights turned on no matter what time of the day it is or how sunny it is.. You will get a ticket if you dont have them on.. :)

Unless one is in a Volvo...I tend to think...'pillock' if I see a car driving around with it's lights on in broad daylight.

For bikes it's acceptable.

Most Scandinavian countries state this. Which is why Volvos lights are always on. You cannot turn them off, well at least you cant to pre-99 production cars or something like that.

The reduced natural lighting in that part of the world demands it.

i borrowed a volvo and could not work out why the lights were always on, till it was pointed out to me that all volvo's do it. lol

i must admit i tend to drive the Zed witht he lights on

people get distracted too much and i want people to be aware off me about

Well I thought that would rile some people.

Anyway, remember the old story about the boy who cried wolf ? When everyones crying wolf, where is the wolf ....

Buy a new bike and you have no choice, the lights are wired up so there are on constantly, my only concern is if you are driving towards some old dear, go over a pot hole, front of car or bike has a little bounce, she thinks she sees the headlights flash, and pulls out in front of you.

Bikes I'm OK with, they are a little harder to see and they move v.fast. It does annoy me when they accelerate hard and the lights dazzle you though. That's probably just becuase I'm jealous and not riding mine ...

Then she is driving without due care and attension and should be flogged..... as the high way code states Flashing your lights to make someone aware that you are there not to flash them out........ :smash: :D

Not True all C70's allow you to switch them on or turn em of just like any other UK spec car.

Same as the 9-3 Saab convertable ;) the lights are not hard wired on....;)

i work for U.P.S. an they often say that we should have our lights on most the time so as to draw more attention to your self. as if we need that in a brown van. they even take off the reverse beeper an make us use the horn, not a bad thing as now most ppl pay not attention to the beeper's
