oh dear more spending!!

 

right then one seized engine and now my 11month olb new tubs one of them has end float ffs!!

 

have just sent them off to turbo technics to have a look at them but i dont know if the warranty will pay for them :headvswal

 

why am i thinking this :nelson: well last year yep the engine f@cked up on me and ruined the bearings in the tubs, turbo technics had a look on them under warranty and decided not to pay to fix them leaving me with a bill for £800 for new cores :nelson:

 

so what do i say to them this time?? they dont smoke at all but there is end float in one of them!!

 

any help much appreceated

Its difficult, they can claim oil starvation etc etc, BUT !! If you have paid previously, fight your corner , if all else fails ask for some good will & see if they will do them for free,

Why do so many aftermarket turbos fail when the OEM ones typically do 70-100,000+ miles ?

andy thats exactly what i was thinking, oem ones seem to go on for ever!!!

 

well will deffo be fighting my corner this time this is the second set in less than a year

 

where in wales u from martin as a few new zeds have turned up around me!!

In my opinion it's because many of these upgraded turbos use rebuild cores (to keep the costs down) and I have NEVER heard anything positive about the longlivety of turbos with rebuild cores.

 

turbos that were rebuild using brandnew Garrett cores (only the shells are re-used) don't seem to have this problem

Whats your veiw of Turbo Dynamics then Greg. (I agree with your assesment of Turbo Technics even though the guy that owns them is a really nice bloke)

TBH mate i dont have a problem,just alot of people i know have had trouble getting warranty from them! most get refused and blame goes back to the customer,anything to make a living though

well ffs!! ended up having to pay for 2 new tubs!! they wanted £1400 tw@ts was told there was grit in the engine and caused falire, so told them i had a pair before off them for £800 as a special gesture for failed warranty and if they didnt give me the same price this time i would go to turbo dynamics!!! so they gave in and sent me a new pair for £800 :)
