Tends just to mean that the turbo seals are going.

I put Injector cleaner in to my Z when I first got it and for a week or so, when I put my foot down, black shit would come out of the back.

he wasnt putting his foot down only going slow up the road. If the seals were going would it smoke sll the time or only on boost?

so how likely is it for a jap import with just 60k miles to have shagged seals?

Also how much $$$ is it gonna cost to have em fixed?

Clarkey, car smokes on what is called the "overrun" basically when the car is on boost and your tramping along, the oil leaking from the seals is being burnt away as you ease of and the turbo starts slowing down the oil is now just dripping into the hot downpipe alot slower, hence the smoke, usually when approaching halt signs and slowing down, if you get car on ramps and have the down pipe taken off, you can put yer fingers in and check for play and oil, also a leak down test will confirm worn rings or not. Cost is around £900 for a pr of standard turbo's upto £2,500 for HKS jobbies, plenty of choices available though, engine out to replace, so add around £700 labour, possiblity of them being worn at 60,000 miles all depends on previous owner having looked after engine/turbo or not, hope this helps, smithy
