Not happy at all about this but want to ask advice first before i take this further?????

I've bought a Profec B spec 2 controller off a trader and discovered around 3 months of having it the thing just stopped working.

I was told to try lots of differents checks which i did changed all the hoses checked and double checked everything till there was nothing else to do but sent it back.

Rather than doing the decent thing and swapping it for a new one i was told it had to go back to the states for testing. This took two months and i was told there was nothing wrong with it,no test report no nothing just "it works".

Still not convinced i decided to take it and swap with someone who had one i knew was working and discovered my was definately faulty. When i asked for a repair number i wasn't given one and when i asked to speak directly to the supplier who was repairing it i was told i was not allowed to????

I was then told that the unit would be exchanged but after 3 weeks i have now been told it's out of the 90 day warranty therefore i'm stuck after spending money and wasting lots of time with a faulty unit i cannot use and won't be replaced????

This is not good service......what should i do?

Is that the sellers warrenty or the manufactures warrenty?

To add he states his supplier has a 90 day warranty.

The link for terms and conditions to his website makes not mention of a 90 day warranty........

He says it's the manufactures but as my previous post states....

Besides i bought it in good faith from him not them....

Sounds like your being taken for a ride alex. I would contact a solicitor or even C.A.B. and get some advice.

It's a shame this couldn't have been sorted out some other way but i think this is my only route.......

It's also a shame it's a trader from here......

this just proves my point that all the crap about buying from trusted traders and you get better aftercare and warranties and all that is bullshit. its a pity im the only one who has the balls to say anything on here

not having a go at ALL traders here so dont go off on one.

Alex i hope you get it sorted bud, don't put up with it. A real store wouldnt get away with it so why should the trader :xxx:

If you wanna buy stuff go buy it yourself from the states, save yourselves a packet and cut out the middle man. Simple as

It's also a shame it's a trader from here......

I thought they were meant to look after us on this forum and offer more gurantee than ebay :nono:

I would try the trader again and if no luck then pm Mac1

Let him know all the details as i havnt really got all the ins and outs of this....I think he'll be able to sort it or advise you the best course of action :smash:

There may just be a wire crossed

If you look in all the bits of paper you got when you got it there should be printed somewhere on theirthe items warrenty by the manufacture...just double check it...

before this gets out of hand PM MAC1, thats what he's there for!

the traders on here do usually offer very good service & prices. problems do occour & hopefully this can get resolved :)

hope you get this sorted :)

Let’s just put a few facts forward shall us Alex. You bought the Profec in January this year, you then told me that you went over a massive pot hole and only then did the controller stop working. You then sent it back to me 15th May, I then sent it off to my suppliers who tested it and the report came back that the unit was working.

Major Jap firms are only offering between 60-90 day warranties on all their stuff now some do not offer any so what am I supposed to do carry on a warranty that is not supported by the manufacturer???

What a shock that certain people stick their nose in, as with all cases, people should learn the facts before commenting on things they know nothing about.

after 30 days a product is usually RMA'd back to a manufacturer, where they run tests and either fix or replace if at fault. The manufacturer will not usually talk directly to you only to the person that bought it off of them,

most shops and dealers won't extend your warranty above the manufacturers unless you purchase an extended purchase warranty or is explicity mentioned at the time of purchase.

You all had your 10 pence worth so I will have mine after reading a few "comments".

1stly how can you lot comment on something without knowing all the facts?

Get a Solicitor.. OK he'l laugh as if the thing is past its warenty, its past it. end of story. If you buy something, the warenty is from the date purchased, not the date you end up fitting it.

As the vendor hasnt replied I am guessing he hasnt taking it and tested it? If he has in fact taken it and tested it and its come back as faulty then i would imagine he would replace it. If its come back ok... then what the hell is he suposed to do about it? Maybe its a loose fitting?

Ye gods people, think before you jump in.

Who was the vendor, and id like to hear his side.

Ahh while i was typing I see Chris has replied.

Intresting you gave it a whack, and he tested it.

common guys, think, use your heads befor you jump in.

Seeing as you've made yourself aware Chris you only ever pointed out your warranty which went straight to the Greddy site with no mention whatsoever about a 90 day warranty.

It took a month to get it back to you as you kept asking me to try different things to try to fix it this i could only do at weekends when i had time, i suggested sending it back to you in the first place but you kept putting me off.

The 60-90 day warranty is nowehere on your website or the receipt..... you should make people aware of this.I bought it from you as i didn't want to buy one from e-bay with no warranty.

Lets face it Chris it wasn't tested was it and i have the unit here to prove to anyone it was not tested there's no RA number and you couldn't supply it?

You also only told me after i pushed that you dealt with a North American company who bought it from Greddy in the States who will not deal direct with the UK in fact it's Japan who does this.......you also told me it was sent back to the States and tested which was not true as no RA number was issued and again when i pushed you for an answer you told me "there wasn't one".

I bought this from you in good faith understanding that you were a dealer interested in repeat business and fair trading.

You have now washed your hands of this and refuse to take my calls why?

Any other dealer i'm sure would have done all they can to keep me updated with how the situation was and what was happening.....you didn't you felt it incovenient that i was asking you what was going on.

Sending an expensive piece of kit back to me in a brown jiffy bag with no explanation or report of any kind in not professional.

Pointing me to another parties terms and conditions is also not proffesional and giving me a one line e-mail saying "my supplier says it's out of 90 days nothing i can do" is also not helpfull.

I thought you were a Trader interested in keeping a reputation and helping us to make our cars special?

As you won't return my calls and give one line e-mails you're obviously not interested in helping me are you?

However i would ask as suggested by someone one more time to restore my faith is there anything you can do to help?

common guys, think, use your heads befor you jump in.

Always do...HENCE

I would try the trader again and if no luck then pm Mac1

Let him know all the details

and...

There may just be a wire crossed

Im not defending myself as this is genuine honest advice that would be given to anyone no matter who it involved

Theres obviously more to this than can be understood on a web page which is why before condeming anybody I said this:-

i havnt really got all the ins and outs of this....

This seems like a subject that could be all to easily misinterpreted either way so it seems like a matter for Mac1 / the Trader and AlexPorsche to discuss elsewhere other than the forum untill resolved.

Handbags at 10paces gentlemen :x:

Got a problem with a trader speak to Macca, as has already been said.

No point in continuing this in the public forum.

You're all missing the point it wasn't tested at all, it was in the Sates for two months before it came back.

Oh yes and it wasn't a massive post hole it was a bump in the road but surely this wouldn't have broken something inside the car...how come every other electrical part including the radio cd changer (with moving parts) are all fine the only faulty unit is the controller i'm not saying this is the cause but just trying to work out why it stopped working.

Surely there should be a warning on the unit (by the way if you go over a pot hole this unit may stop working?????) i don't think so somehow.

If i used this approach with my clients i'd be out of business....

Believe it or not i still have faith in people and still hope it can be resolved with everyone happy, however that's up to Chris as i am just a customer who's given out a few hundered quid to buy something recommended by him and others.

I still can't see why after a few months you have nothing if it goes faulty, all that money has just been wasted that's what i feels unfair..if i bashed it with a pick axe fair enough but it's just been sitting in my car as it should have been.........

Apologies just wrote this after the last two posts....i'll wait for Mac to reply.

Thanks for your comments guys all appreciated!

Alex,

If you want me to see if there is anything more i can do then mail me, as has been stated a public forum is not the place for all of this.
