Has any one retrimed the crappy tweed :hurl: on their zed with leather/vinyl?

 

im wanting to do mine in red but just thought id see if any of you have tips or advice on the best way to go about it?

my tip is when you get the tweed off wash the panel in white spirit it removes all the old glue a treat when washed off with soapy water i'm still in the sh1t for doing mine in the kitchen sink lol

Make sure you use a hair dryer, made it much easier when I did mine.

Good lad! I put half my engine through the dishwasher last year (non Zed) and totally buggered it up!! Wasn't the most popular person for doing that! :rofl:

I'm retrimming the tweed panels at the moment - it's really easy mate... just make sure you got the right bits:

 

I use Autoleads Upholstery Glue Spray - spray it then leave it 2 mins before putting vinyl on - more tacky then

Loads of Loctite Super Glue for the edges

A really good quality Screw Driver - to remove panels etc.

Loads of bulldog clips to hold the new leather/vinyl in place until the glue is dry

Hairdryer ... although dont burn out your misses top of the range nicky clarke jobbie coz it can have a painful effect on yer knackers!

 

My advice is take your time removing the panels - and when glueing the new vinyl on - get it stuck in the right overall position with the adhesive spray and then focus on one edge at a time using loctite.

already knackered the missus hairdryer converting my rear lights to 99 specs , got it covered in the black gunky glue holding the things together!!!!!!!!:smash:

i used evo stick contact on mine but the not the non solvent one sticks like crap to a blanket i did a part retrim before with spray glue and as soon as it heats up all the vinyl starts to peel off solvant based evo stick is the way to go
