Im currently out the uk but should be arriving back in blighty in september   , and previously owned a modded 200sx s14, i modded it but really want a 300zx when i get back. Ive seen all the great advice in the FAQ here, and read some of the threads, and they all have some great advice.

Just wondering if ive missed something regarding SWB / LWB models, ? are there any differences appart from the obvious? Also could anyone explain the differences in all the models for me so i have an idea what i should be looking for.. Many thanks all andy

Do a search on "differences swb lwb"; there's a few posts that might be useful

No its just the obvious.

LWB is longer and has 4 seats.

SWB is shorter and has 2 seats

Swb are quicker and handle better than the equivalent lwb version! You can't fit a couple of midgets in the back of a swb though - if that's your bag, of course!! I suppose you could try squeezing them in the boot, though! Talking of which, you get a deeper boot but with less 'surface area' than the lwb, which I find really ideal for a couple of suitcase for the only 2 people who can fit in the car - depending on the midget situation, naturally! Also, all of the body panels from the front wings and windscreen back are different and, due to the fact there are far fewer in the country, are a fair bit harder to get hold of if you need to replace any.

Simon

just to add all 2+2 (lwb) are targa top, swb can be targa-top, hard-top, or soft-top

all variations can be non turbo or twin turbo except the soft top which is non turbo only

tell tale sign for a swb is fuel filler cap is in front of rear passenger side wheel as opposed to behind like on the 2+2

...unless youre playing Gran Turismo 4, in which case even the SWBs have the filler cap behind the rear wheel (or is it LWBs have the filler cap in front?)

cheers guys, in that case dont really think i mind which i get, just go for the car thats been best looked after i guess... the 2+2 in my old 200 was useful about twice in nearly three years of owner ship so not a big deal... any differance on insurance prices?

LWB are just 4 seater family hatcbacks. SWB are 2 seater sports cars.

Damn useful though- my car was 4 bloaters up doing the Friday lunchtime pub dash today. It's always fun crushing the legs of the person behind the pasenger seat to lock the seat itself back down! :D

Its Just Like This Lads And That S Final You Dont Go Fishing With A Short Rod Do You And If You Dont Believe Me Ask Your Missus Which One She Rather Play With

SWB dont handle better than a LWB

SWB are not faster than LWB

if anything a LWB will handle better than its baby sister

Now Now young man you are treading on dodgy ground there.

Let this be a lesson to you>>>>>>

SWB have to be lighter, so everything else being equal have to be faster.

They dont have a tank, possibly full of fuel hanging out the back, so more of its (lesser) weight inside the wheelbase.

Being shorter they should be more nimble but less stable at high speed.

Being lighter they should stop quicker. Everything else being equal etc.

And I have got one of each and the SWB def looks better.
